Pointing fingers

For at least two months now all we've heard about is how important it is for Congress to pass a "health reform" (read: fascist take-over of health care) bill. No one -- and I mean NO ONE -- was pimping for the bill harder than Il Duce and Little Nancy "Air Force 3" Pelosi. Little Miss Nancy was particularly adamant about getting the bill passed prior to Congress going on a much-needed vacation (much needed by the Nation, that is) in August.

So here we are at the door of August...and no health care bill. *whew* Thank God!

Let the finger pointing begin! Up first, Little Nancy.

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday ramped up her criticism of insurance companies, accusing them of unethical behavior and working to kill a plan to create a new government-run health plan.

"It's almost immoral what they are doing," Pelosi said to reporters, referring to insurance companies. "Of course they've been immoral all along in how they have treated the people that they insure," she said, adding, "They are the villains. They have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening."
That's right, Nancy! They shouldn't stand in the way of your greatness! They should bow and scrape and get the hell out of the way!

Twit! (More on this particular "excuse" follows below)

Not content with scapegoating the Insurance industry, Team Donkey is also throwing their allies in Big Media (the BM for short) under the bus.
Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday blamed Capitol Hill media for setting an August deadline for health reform and Republicans for blocking the bill's progress.

[...]

[Majority Leader Harry] Reid said reporters created a fictitious deadline of a successful vote by the August recess, and downplayed the fact that the chamber won’t meet that mark.

“That is a deadline that you created,” Reid told a group of about 75 reporters. “It’s not like we don’t have a product. Significant progress has been made … The mere fact that this wasn't done by last Friday or by five o’clock doesn't mean we’re not going to get a quality product."
They must really think we're stupid. As recently as last Friday Rahm Emanuel and Little Nancy were hyping a vote on health care before the August recess. Hello, Nancy? Rahm? Harry? Ever hear of Google? Or the Drudge headlines archive? We can prove you're lying in under 3 minutes.

Now Team Donkey, heading home with their collective tails tucked between their legs (no Barney Frank jokes, please!), are planning to deploy a new tactic.
House Democratic leaders have developed a coordinated strategy for attacking insurance companies to ward off attacks from opponents of their health care overhaul during the August break, according to a strategy memo obtained by The Hill.

“Our message is simple. It is now being echoed by the White House,” said the memo sent to all Democratic members. “And it counters the Republican ‘government takeover’ message.”

The message in the memo, though, won't fit on a bumper sticker:

“Remove the insurance companies from between you and your doctor— capping what they can force you to pay in out of pocket expenses, co-pays and deductibles, and giving you the peace of mind you will be covered for the care you need, if get sick, or if you change or lose your job.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) brought out the new message in an exchange with reporters in the Capitol, when she said, “They are the villains in this.”

The attack comes even though the health insurance industry hasn’t attacked President Obama’s plan or the legislation being hammered out in Congress.
Read that last line again. The insurance companies are being scapegoated for doing...wait for it...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They are just a convenient target for venal politicians content to play the politics of personal destruction card.

Do you want to know why the legislation never came up for a vote? I mean, the REAL reason, not Little Nancy's misdirection and excuses.

The health care take-over legislation failed because there were Democrats in the House who were scared (rhymes with) wittless at the fallout they knew would follow the passage of a hugely unpopular and doomed-for-failure steaming pile of legislation. They valued their potential re-election more than they valued what they could do for their party.

Now if only there were politicians of EITHER party who cared more about their Country than about their re-election chances...THEN we'd have something!

Curse you, Cyberdyne Systems!

For all of you who still think that the Terminator movies were just science fiction, I bring you this.

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.
Where is John Connor when we need him?!?!?!

A bad omen as training camp begins

Didn't I tell you? Did I not tell you?!?!?!? This is exactly what you get when you draft a WR in the first round.

Training camp officially begins today for the 49ers. Rookies, quarterbacks, rehabbing veterans and other selective vets are expected to be at team HQ by the end of the day. Basically, it will be the same group that attended a rookie minicamp in May. Save for one high-profile rookie - some guy who played wideout at Texas Tech - everyone is expected to report on time.
The guy hasn't played a single down of NFL football. He didn't even participate in any of the mini camps because he has a boo-boo (a "broken foot"...probably just a hang nail).

He was drafted 10th in the first round -- but he wants top five draft pick money because he's "that kind of special player".

Didn't I tell you? Did I not tell you?!?!?!?

We could have had a pass rusher. A cornerback. A really top-of-the-line tackle. But NOOOOOOO! We had to buy the Ferrari instead of the Ford F-150. F'ing Niners!

We're doomed. 5-11 here we come.

Cause for optimism?

There is a trend afoot - a trend that may actually signal a pendulum swing towards a return to Constitutional principles.

Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a joint resolution declaring Alaska's sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution – and now 36 other states have introduced similar resolutions as part of a growing resistance to the federal government.
36 states? 36 states are showing some spine after nearly 150 years of acquiescing to Federal supremacy? Now THAT'S something!

What remains to be seen is whether this is simply legislative grandstanding by cynical politicians who want to give the appearance of representing the interests of the people while at the same time remaining true to their one all-important constituency: themselves.

If it is legit, it's a breakthrough of huge importance. HUGE! It it's legit, it could be the start of actual reform in Washington, as the federal government has the choice of either stepping up to the plate and honoring the wishes of the states, or......

Never mind. What was I thinking?

Life imitates South Park

You may be familiar with the episode of South Park where all of the residents purchase Hybids to reduce smog...but disaster follows when an ugly cloud of smug replaces the smog.

In addition to the eminent threat of "smug", there is another danger associated with these heinous vehicles - the sanctimonious asshats who drive them are terrible drivers!

A insurance data-analysis firm studied the driving habits of about 360,000 vehicle owners and found that hybrid owners are by far the worst drivers on the road:
The writer of the linked post thinks he knows why.
There are many reasons why hybrid owners drive more than regular car owners, get into more accidents, and get more tickets: because they’re assholes. Fully and completely.
Now, how to you improve on that sort of terse, targeted analysis? You don't. Because...he's right.

Take it as fact: hybrid drivers are not just self-important, trendy tools. They can't drive, either.

Wiener of the Week

As tempting as it would be to name Caput Penitus Culus the WotW (just on general principle), there's someone MUCH more deserving. That would be Il Duce.

Il Duce had a tough week. Not a tough week as in "things didn't go my way". No, he had a tough week as in "I'm not just losing the American people, but my party as well".

It went something like this:

  • Democrat Congressmen openly challenge Il Duce for acting like King George the Dim with regards to signing statements.

  • The Health Care takeover is taking on water. You know you're in trouble when (a) Charlie Rangel is overheard questioning your strategy, (b) Team Donkey Senators are on the record as being "baffled" by your strategy, (c) a number of Team Donkey Congressmen are in open rebellion, saying that Il Duce is destroying the party, and (d) the talks break down with members of your own party angrily claiming they'd been "lied to" by the administration.
  • You are accused of being "in bed" with special interests by The Associated Press. What's the matter with these people? They used to love you so much!

  • Government Motors sales are dropping like a rock; sales are down 22% from last year's disastrous numbers.

  • You open up stimulus money to the very same lobbyists you swore would have no say in how that money was distributed, earning a rebuke from the ACLU.
Then there was the uncommonly inept "press conference" Tuesday night. Oh boy! Let me count the ways where he made of hash of things with THIS masterpiece.
  • He claimed that his administration had "rescued the economy", a statement that earned him open mockery from Team Elephant.

  • He presented his health care "plan" in such an erratic way that even the Washington Compost was left second-guessing him.

  • He made the outrageous claim that cops who arrested his friend, Henry Gates, for acting erratically when confronted for breaking into his own house, "acted stupidly". This has, of course, generated a shit storm of Biblical magnitude. The police union blasted him. A black officer who was on the scene stated that the arresting officer acted properly and deserves an apology. And, even though Il Duce called the officer in question, his attempted "apology" was a complete lead balloon.
All of these events, of course, lead to this:
49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. This is the second straight day that his overall approval rating has been below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.
Six months. It took Il Duce six months to piss away his popularity. Ah, sweet schadenfreude!

Il Duce, you are the Wiener of the Week!

Mourning in the Law-fetishist community

It seems my old foil Caput Penitus Culus has decided to throw in the gavel. What a pity! [/sarcasm]

What will I do for entertainment? What cage will I be able to rattle now that my (least-) favorite ambulance chaser has chosen to blog no more.

Hey Caput a paluti! Why don't you come over here and we can throw mud at each other? C'mon! It'd be good for a few laughs, don't ya think?

Yeah, old Caput will be missed. Like an ulcerated tooth.

UPDATE: False alarm - the caput a palus is back in business. Perhaps I'll pop over and heckle him to welcome him back.

Death of a pompous blowhard

While many are in mourning, and Big Media (the BM for short) is treating the passing of Walter Cronkite with a reverence usually reserved for Presidents and religious leaders, I say, "Good riddance to bad rubbish!" Vulture, please explain! Gladly.

Walter Cronkite was a self-important pompous blowhard. His signature sign off - "...and that's the way it is!" - is like nails on the chalk board to me. No, you pompous asshat, that is definitely not "the way it is". You've just presented 30 minutes (less commercials) of news hand-picked by the liberal cognoscenti at CBS News in accordance with their world view. You have NOT, in any way, shape or form, told us "the way it is".

In retirement, Walter Cronkite continued to bloviate on subjects far and wide. He always took the most liberal viewpoint, and he was always critical of those most likely to side with the actual American people versus the political cognoscenti leading us towards the eventual One-World Socialist Dystopia.

Think I'm kidding? Then check this out (in particular, watch the video -- it's an eye-opener).

Walter Cronkite was the very picture of the Upper East Side Limousine Liberal. For all of his journalistic accomplishments, he ultimately succumbed to a lethal case of hubris. He believed himself an oracle of the truth. He believed his own press clippings.

Once voted "The most trusted man in America", Walter Cronkite was, in fact, a Fifth Column traitor to America. In the video I referenced above, he voiced his opinion that, if supporting One-World Governance was to be aligned with Satan, he was "glad to sit here at the right hand of Satan." Let's hope he got his wish.

Wiener of the Week

And to think that this simple-minded mouth-breathing waste of oxygen was almost the Governor of Maryland! The title of her polemic says it all: Why Barack Obama represents American Catholics better than the pope does.

When Obama meets the pope tomorrow, they'll politely disagree about reproductive freedoms and homosexuality, but Catholics back home won't care, because they know Obama's on their side. In fact, Obama's agenda is closer to their views than even the pope's.
Sooooooo. What you're saying is that, because many American Catholics have deviated from the faith as taught in your church's catechism, the Pope is less relevant. Which, in what passes for your mind, makes Obama, who agrees with your deviation from your church's beliefs, the truer Catholic leader.

xfloggingkylex, you're the Psych major...PLEASE make sense of this for me! After all, you've taken classes in Abnormal Psychology and I haven't.

(Tip of the beak to Toes for sending me this link which references this story in the Washington Times)

When Sarah Palin resigned as Governor of Alaska, my take was that she had done so because she needed to be a "private citizen" in order to go after the reptilian sub-humans who have hounded her relentlessly since her stellar Team Elephant convention speech last year. As a private citizen, libel laws would protect her from a lot of the more heinous invective being flung like chimpanzee feces by the chimpanzees of the Left.

I lamented in an entry I made during the Independence Day weekend that our country had devolved to the point where only reptilians could hold public office; a normal human being like Sarah Palin was NOT welcome, and now they had succeeded in driving her from office.

Or....maybe Sarah Palin is crazy like a fox. The Washington Times reports:

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."
Some are now speculating -- including blogs not given to political themes -- that this is her brilliant first step towards establishing herself as the leader of a new Conservative party.

That. Would. Be. A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

The only hope this country has of shedding the reptilians and returning to Constitutional principals (short of revolution) is a third party comprised of human beings. Right, wrong, or indifferent, these would be people with core values and a spine (believe me, it takes core values and a spine to be a conservative Democrat!) who would vote for what's good for the American people, not what's good for One World Socialist Utopia.

Will it happen? Stay tuned. We live in interesting times. We most certainly live in interesting times.

Vulture Droppings - the Sotomayor hearings

Vulture Droppings is a semi-regular feature of this blog. It's a kind of "Random Thoughts" post in which I try to quickly summarize a particularly large event or series of events. Think of it being sort of like what a vulture leaves behind after devouring a horse. You don't get the whole horse, just highly processed leftovers.

The circus is in town. No, I'm not referring to the Barnum and Bailey variety. I'm speaking of the Kabuki dance known as Supreme Court nominee confirmation hearings.

While this show is usually good for a nice dose of heartburn as sub-human reptilians interrogate (or, if the candidate is Left-leaning, go through the motions and appear to interrogate) the Justice-to-be about legal minutia fed to them by their minions. It's analogous to the show trials of the old Soviet Union. You pretty much know going in that, unless the candidate is a complete f-up (like Harriet Miers) or actually believes in enforcing the Constitution (like Robert Bork), they're going to be confirmed.

The current nominee presents a unique challenge, however. This isn't going to be the usual rubber stamp. Not for this steaming mess of a candidate.

Public opinion is NOT a friend of Judge Sotomayor.
Sonia Sotomayor will begin her confirmation hearings next week with some of the highest levels of public opposition of any Supreme Court nominee in the last two decades, according to a new poll by CNN and the Opinion Research Corporation.

In fact, only one nominee had a higher level of opposition: Harriet Miers, who was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2005. Miers later withdrew her nomination under questions about her qualifications from both the political left and right.
It seems that there are still sentient Americans who believe in a level playing field as opposed to Sotomayor's vision of a female Hispanic oligarchy of "wise Latinas".

That Ms. Sotomayor's numbers rival those of Ms. Miers is telling. Ms. Miers was a mental lightweight, a poseur. Ms. Sotomayor is simply a racially bigoted gynecocentric shrew who thinks it her job to legislate from the bench. Personally, I'd prefer Ms. Miers to Ms. Sotomayor.

Even the Washington Post, no friend to freedom nor to individual rights, managed to find time amidst the Michael Jackson coverage to drop this little nugget on Ms. Sotomayor.
Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's opinions show support for the rights of criminal defendants and suspects, skepticism of corporations, and sympathy for plaintiffs alleging discrimination, an analysis of her record by The Washington Post found. And she has delivered those rulings with a level of detail considered unusual for an appellate judge.

During nearly 11 years on the federal appeals court in New York, Sotomayor has made herself an expert on subjects ranging from the intricacies of automobile mechanisms to the homicide risks posed by the city's population density. Her writings have often offered a granular analysis of every piece of evidence in criminal trials, and sometimes read as if she were retrying cases from her chambers.

Legal experts said Sotomayor's rulings fall within the mainstream of those by Democratic-appointed judges. But some were critical of her style, saying it comes close to overstepping the traditional role of appellate judges, who give considerable deference to the judges and juries that observe testimony and are considered the primary finders of fact. (Emphasis mine)
The WaPo sugar-coats it; I'm going to come right out and say it. Sotomayor's ego knows no bounds; SHE is the law, and SHE will decide what is right or wrong, the Constitution and the law be damned.

It's telling that this is the sort of person Il Duce chose to make his first judicial nominee. I'm just sayin'.

While I'm on the subject of Big Media (the BM for short), are you as tired of the wall-to-wall Michael Jackson coverage as I am? Especially in light of events around the world that merit actual news coverage: the events in Honduras, the G20 summit that recently ended, Al Gorebells trumpeting how cap-and-trade will "help bring about global governance", the cratering economy, the situation in Iran, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Have we actually reached the "bread and circuses" phase of our descent into oblivion?

Team Elephant is going to make a show of putting Sotomayor's feet to the fire. Their main salvo will be the testimonies of firemen whom Sotomayor ruled against famously in the New Haven case that was recently overturned by the Supreme Court.

Naturally, the sub-human reptilians of the Left have kicked into their usual mode of "destroy the messenger, destroy the message".
Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.

On the eve of Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearing, her advocates have been urging journalists to scrutinize what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of firefighter Frank Ricci.

This is opposition research: a constant shadow on Capitol Hill.

"The whole business of getting Supreme Court nominees through the process has become bloodsport," said Gary Rose, a government and politics professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.
No, Mr. Rose. It's only bloodsport for the Stateist thugs of the Left. I highly doubt that Team Elephant will so much as ruffle Ms. Sotomayor's hair, let alone draw blood. Team Elephant ought to be called Team Pansy, such is their utter lack of core beliefs and fight.

I'm not going to review all of the reasons why Ms. Sotomayor is an unqualified and inappropriate candidate for the Supreme Court; I did that when her nomination was announced. In that post, I identified her as a racist, anti-freedom horror show. Nothing that has happened in the subsequent weeks has changed my opinion.

If you're the type who writes to your Congressman and Senators, this is the time to do it. The last thing we need on a Supreme Court that is already a precarious 5-4 ideological split is this steaming mess of a human being.

Team Elephant grows a spine?

Throughout the past two weeks, as Hugo Chavez and his lapdog cronies (like Il Duce) have barked for the return of Manuel Zelaya to his former position as President of Honduras, there has been nary a whisper of contrarian opinion from anyone except the Wall Street Journal. Now, FINALLY, two weeks into this misadventure, Team Elephant appears to have grown a spine.

Republican lawmakers have slammed US President Barack Obama for branding Honduras' political upheaval a "coup," saying he was aligning himself with leftist Latin American leaders.

Republican lawmakers said Obama's reaction to President Manuel Zelaya's ouster had placed the US in line with the presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua.

"By calling this a coup and by early statements insisting on the reinstatement of Mr Zelaya, the administration now stands with the likes of (Hugo) Chavez, (Evo) Morales and (Daniel) Ortega, and not with the Honduran people," Republican Connie Mack said during a hearing by a panel of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Zelaya was removed from office for his unconstitutional and illegal attempts to alter the constitution of Honduras for purely selfish reasons," said Congressman Chris Smith, a Republican from New Jersey.

The claim that the events that led to Zelaya's ouster constituted a coup "melts under any serious scrutiny," Smith added.

"Rather, democracy and the rule of law triumphed over Mr Zelaya's lawlessness."
I have but one question for Team Elephant's leadership (and I use the term loosely with this leaderless, clueless group): what took you so long?!?!?!

What was it? Did you have to wait for the opinion polls to show you which way the wind was blowing before you made a stand? Were you too scairdy fraid of ruffling someone's feathers? Either you have core beliefs, or you don't.

I can't believe I used to consider myself a Republican. What a bunch of losers!

Wiener of the Week

The king of propaganda, Al Gorebells, is still selling that climate change snake oil.

Al Gore invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill yesterday when he urged political leaders to follow the example of Britain’s wartime leader in the battle against climate change.

The former US Vice-President accused governments around the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers of global warming to avoid taking difficult decisions.

Speaking in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by The Times, Mr Gore said: “Winston Churchill aroused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilisation in World War Two. We have everything we need except political will, but political will is a renewable resource.”

Mr Gore admitted that it was difficult to persuade the public that the threat from climate change was as urgent as that from Hitler.
Really, Al? It's as urgent to "fight climate change" as it was to defeat Hitler? What a tool!

Al Gorebells, you're the Wiener of the Week.

Racism - alive and well

If you're my age, you know that once upon a time racism was W-A-A-A-A-A-A-Y more overt and pronounced than it is now. In fact, many times of late I've been tempted to tell anyone within listening distance that it's time to STFU about racism. I'd grown tired of the constant racial whining. "Boo hoo! I'm an oppressed minority! I'm being held back by The Man."

Whatever. That was then. Get over it.

And I really believed it to be true that we were, in fact, a post-racist society. After all, we DID elect a half-Black President, right?

Then I read this.

More than 60 campers from Northeast Philadelphia were turned away from a private swim club and left to wonder if their race was the reason.

"I heard this lady, she was like, 'Uh, what are all these black kids doing here?' She's like, 'I'm scared they might do something to my child,'" said camper Dymire Baylor.

The Creative Steps Day Camp paid more than $1900 to The Valley Swim Club. The Valley Swim Club is a private club that advertises open membership. But the campers' first visit to the pool suggested otherwise.

"When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool," Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. "The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately."

The next day the club told the camp director that the camp's membership was being suspended and their money would be refunded.
Are you eff'ing kidding me?!?!?!?!

If you told me that something like this had happened in, say, 1966, I wouldn't be surprised. Even if you told me it had happened in 1978 I wouldn't be all that surprised. But in 2009?!?!?!?!?

Are you eff'ing kidding me?!?!?!?!

These people at the swim club are assholes. Total assholes. Thanks for setting the cause of a color-blind society back about 4 decades, you sorry sons of bitches!

UPDATE: And the racism goes on - this time it's the black-on-white version.

Has the worm turned?

The lapdog media showed some teeth late last week. After one sycophantic orgy of journalistic fellatio after another, someone (other than Fox News) actually went after the Il Duce administration.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs and the Obama administration found the press corps slightly less friendly than they are used to yesterday, when CBS's Chip Reid asked why the questions for Wednesday’s town hall on healthcare were being selected beforehand.

Gibbs tried to dodge the issue, and asked for it to be asked after the town hall meeting in question, but then Helen Thomas became involved, saying, “We have never had that in the White House. I’m amazed that you people … call for openness and transparency.”

Reid and Thomas didn't let up for a second, especially Thomas.
Okay. The words you're about to read are words I never thought I'd be writing in a million years. Helen Thomas was awesome.
After the press conference, she told CNS News that Obama's grip on the media is even greater than that of Richard Nixon.

"Nixon didn’t try to do that. They couldn’t control [the media]. They didn’t try that. What the hell do they think we are, puppets? They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them. I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well - for the town halls, for the press conferences. It’s blatant. They don’t give a damn if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame."
I'm dumbfounded. I figured if anyone was going to be an Il Duce sycophant, it would be the Grand Dame of the Left! But here she is calling his royal butt to task.

Watch the video...it's even better.

If there were an award which equated to the polar opposite of Wiener of the Week, Chip Reid and Helen Thomas would be awarded it. Right now. On the spot. No question.

Wiener of the Week

Alice in Wonderland has nothing on the world in which we live when it comes to the surreal. Think I'm kidding? Check this out.

Some Missouri residents and businesses soon could see a new charge on their electric bills — a fee for using less energy.

Though it might seem illogical, the new energy efficiency charge has support from utilities, most lawmakers, the governor, environmentalists and even the state’s official utility consumer advocate. The charge covers the cost of utilities’ efforts to promote energy efficiency and cut power use.
Okay. Deep breath. Let's see if I understand the underlying logic behind this asshattery.
  1. Utilities browbeat their customers into using less electricity.
  2. Utilities then turn around and charge customers using less electricity a fee for....wait for it....using less electricity.
My head might just explode. If there is anyone out there who gets the logic of this move, PLEASE explain it to me. I've read the article three times and STILL don't understand why ANYONE in Missouri would bother to try to save electricity under these circumstances.

Missouri utilities - you're the Wiener of the Week.

Wiener of the Month - June

Honduras had the unfortunate distinction of being caught squarely in the cross hairs of major world Wieners this past month. Mary Anastasia O'Grady of the Wall Street Journal describes the situation thusly:

Reason has gone AWOL in places like Turtle Bay and Foggy Bottom. Ruling the debate on Mr. Zelaya's behavior is Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chávez, who is now the reigning international authority on "democracy."

Mr. Chávez is demanding that Mr. Zelaya be reinstated and is even threatening to overthrow the new Honduran president, Roberto Micheletti. He's leading the charge from the Organization of American States (OAS). The United Nations and the Obama administration are falling in line.
Shocker that. Il Duce falling in lock-step behind the leadership of Hugo Chavez.

All that the majority of the Honduran people want is to be free of this train wreck of a president. The man was engaged in all manor of reckless unconstitutional actions. And the United State (no misspelling; see Pro Libertate for the explanation) supports the crooked Leftist, not the people seeking to be rid of his nonsense.

Congratulations to Il Duce and Succubus of State Hillary Clinton - you're the Wieners of the Month for June.

UPDATE: The AP is reporting that Succubus of State HRC is flying Zelaya up to Washington to meet with him. Read the complete article if you want to see an example of one-sided pro-leftist reporting.

What's that sound?

That whirring sound you heard all day yesterday? That was our Founding Fathers spinning in their graves.

Far from viewing July 4th as an uplifting holiday and a cause for giving thanks to God for our blessings, I view Independence Day with mourning.

The oligarchs and special interests have effectively destroyed the work of our Founders. Need proof? Look no further than the news of Sarah Palin resigning as Governor of Alaska. The politics of personal destruction strikes again; it has become impossible for anyone resembling a human being to be part of the political process in this country. Only sub-human reptilians need apply. People (and I use the term loosely) like Il Duce, John McCommie, Vice-Hairplugs Biden, Succubus of State Hillary Clinton, Little Nancy "Air Force 3" Pelosi, Harry Reid, "Big" Dick Cheney, King George the Dim, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Go ahead and celebrate, if you wish. But I won't be celebrating anything. Rather I'll be mourning that which we've lost.

Honduras (UPDATED)

In July of 2007 I spend 10 days in Honduras as part of a church mission trip. My primary responsibility was to serve as a translator for the medical team (yes, as a matter of fact, I DO speak quasi-passable Spanish). Those 10 days are forever etched into my memory and my heart. The grinding poverty in which the people of western Honduras live was mind-bending. Even more mind-bending was the attitudes of the people living in those conditions. They were......happy. They didn't sweat the things they didn't have. They didn't bitch about their lot in life. They lived, they loved, they worshiped God. For a typical materialistic American like me, that was an eye-opener.

Given my attachment to Honduras, you can imagine that I have been monitoring the events of the past week with considerable interest.

President Manuel Zelaya, a Leftist in the mold of Hugo Chavez, was deposed Sunday in a military coup that was.......wait for it......ordered by the nation's Supreme Court! It seems that the Supreme Court of Honduras, unlike that of the United States, actually cares about defending its Constitution from a power-mad and grasping President.

Zelaya was trying to ram through a referendum to change the Constitution -- in direct defiance of the nation's, well, Constitution, as well as defying the nation's Attorney General and Supreme Court.

So with whom does the US side in this matter? The media, naturally sides with Zelaya. Reading the linked Reuters article cited above, you'd think that the bad-old military launched their coup in a vacuum against the sainted President, who was only trying to serve the people.

But what about the government? The President (Il Duce) and Succubus of State (Hilary Clinton) are both on the record as supporting.......wait for it.....President Zelaya! Why should anyone be surprised? Il Duce's only beef with Zelaya is that he's too conservative. [/sarcasm]

So the good-old USA is siding with Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro (via his puppet-master brother, Fidel) against a nation trying to save itself from a Constitution-shredding megalomaniac. And why not? Il Duce has already shown that he's of like mind.

For the best rundown of the situation in Honduras, read this.

My prayers are with the people of Honduras. May God protect them in this time of trial.

Update: Atlas Shrugs reports that, contrary to the pro-Zelaya crap we're seeing from Big Media (the BM for short), the Honduran people are turning out in massive demonstrations AGAINST Zelaya. Typical. Oh so f'ing typical.
