Scott Brown - once messiah, now turncoat?

Of all of the stupid nonsense! Scott Brown, once hailed as the golden boy, the new Team Elephant messiah, is now being lambasted as a Benedict Arnold on "conservative" web sites. His crime? Voting for Il Duce's "jobs" legislation.

"We campaigned for you. We donated to your campaign. And you turned on us like every other RINO," said one writer, using the initials for "Republican-In-Name-Only."

The conservative-tilting Drudge Report colored a photo of Brown on its home page in scarlet.
Get hysterical much, Elephants?

Brown, to his credit, went on the offensive.
The new senator responded by calling in to a Boston radio station.

"I've taken three votes," Brown said with exasperation. "And to say I've sold out any particular party or interest group, I think, is certainly unfair."

The senator said that by the time he seeks re-election in two years, he will have taken thousands of votes.

"So, I think it's a little premature to say that," he said.
Look, people. Let's get something straight. Winning Ted Kennedy's seat with a slick, carefully scripted "man of the people" campaign didn't make him the Team Elephant messiah. Brown's win seemed to be of greater importance because his win derailed much of Il Duce's Fascist agenda by eliminating the Donkeys' 60 vote "Go eff yourselves Elephants" super majority. Beyond that, it wasn't all that surprising. Hell, even the People's Republic of Maryland elected a "moderate" Republican in the past decade, and for the same reason that Brown won Massachusetts: because he ran against an "entitled" candidate who happened to be a moron.

Bob Ehrich won the Maryland Governor's race in 2002 because his opponent Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's sole qualification for public office was her maiden name. She lost -- against all odds in heavily liberal Maryland -- because she possessed the intellect of a house plant.

I'm sorry if I insulted any house plants with that comment.

Likewise, Scott Brown would have NEVER beaten a Donkey with any kind of charisma or ability to articulate an intelligent thought. He won because he ISN'T Martha Coakley. That and nothing more.

That Scott Brown would turn around and shaft the people who got him elected is no surprise, either. The problem with "conservatives" is that they haven't yet learned that the Elephants are not their friends. The Elephants are every bit as bought-and-paid-for as the Donkeys. They're simply a different side of the same coin. They care as little about you and your ideals as the Donkeys do.

You have to believe me when I say that only a third party or a hostile takeover of one of the two existing major parties will allow "conservative" and libertarian voices a place at the table in Washington.

Kennedy Dead

When the news broke that Senator Edward M. Kennedy died, several vodka distilleries closed shop.

Okay, cheap shot. Still, one has to feel a certain sense of mild euphoria at the thought that there's one less pompous blowhard in the world.

And cheap though my shot may be, it's far less cynical than the "official" Washington response to the Senator's death.

[W]hen members of Obama's administration questioned the president's decision to spend so much political capital on the seemingly intractable healthcare issue, Obama reportedly replied, "I promised Teddy."
Oh please! Talk about using a bigger shovel!

Ted Kennedy was a lightning rod. Liberals loved him. Conservatives and freedom loving individuals (no, they're NOT the same thing!) loathed him. Teddy was Big Government personified.

Right about now he's probably pulling up a bar stool in Hell and bellowing, "What's a guy gotta do to get a drink around he-ah! Er-ah, where's my vodka?"

Wiener of the Week

And to think that this simple-minded mouth-breathing waste of oxygen was almost the Governor of Maryland! The title of her polemic says it all: Why Barack Obama represents American Catholics better than the pope does.

When Obama meets the pope tomorrow, they'll politely disagree about reproductive freedoms and homosexuality, but Catholics back home won't care, because they know Obama's on their side. In fact, Obama's agenda is closer to their views than even the pope's.
Sooooooo. What you're saying is that, because many American Catholics have deviated from the faith as taught in your church's catechism, the Pope is less relevant. Which, in what passes for your mind, makes Obama, who agrees with your deviation from your church's beliefs, the truer Catholic leader.

xfloggingkylex, you're the Psych major...PLEASE make sense of this for me! After all, you've taken classes in Abnormal Psychology and I haven't.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, you dim-witted troll, you're the Wiener of the Week.

NOW my head is going to explode

Tip of the beak to yodaddy, who called this debacle to my attention.

Less than a week after the federal government committed $85 billion to bail out AIG, executives of the giant AIG insurance company headed for a week-long retreat at a luxury resort and spa, the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, California, Congressional investigators revealed today.

"Rooms at this resort can cost over $1,000 a night," Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) said this morning as his committee continued its investigation of Wall Street and its CEOs.

AIG documents obtained by Waxman's investigators show the company paid more than $440,000 for the retreat, including nearly $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 in spa charges.

"They're getting their pedicures and their manicures and the American people are paying for that," said Cong. Elijah Cummings (D-MD).
Steady, Vulture. Steady. This blog is still PG-rated.

The BALLS of those mf'ers! (So much for the PG-rating - *sigh*).

Have they no shame? No shame at all? They take $85 billion of our money...let me repeat that, our effing money...and they're off getting manicures and massages at a pricey resort. What? Were they celebrating that they were able to get over on the American people with such ease? Were they celebrating the fact that their friends in Congress, fully bought and paid for via years of "campaign contributions" (read: legal bribes) did what they were paid to do and rewarded their greed and financial irresponsibility by chumping the good old American tax payer (who, you'll recall, pays on a "progressive" scale based on income, not net worth...meaning that I get taxed the same as (or more than!) a trust-fund Kennedy while having a net worth significantly south of their lazy ass)?

If your Congressman voted for the fatcat bailout (mine, Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, did NOT), you need to vote his/her ass out of office. With malice.

One more thing, for those of you still intending for vote for McCommie or Obama...BOTH voted for the pork-laden steaming pile. Both.

But I'm the one "wasting my vote" by NOT voting for either of them....

I'm SOOOOO embarrassed!

Maryland isn't the worst place in the world to live. Rolling hills, pleasant scenery, (mostly) nice people. Sometimes the weather is just about as nice as you could ever wish for. Sometimes.

I know that my description of Maryland seems like damning with faint praise. Maryland must be a pretty okay place, or I wouldn't have lived here for over 20 years, right?

But Maryland has a way of embarrassing its citizens that no other state can even dream of approaching. There was former Governor William Donald (Willie Don) Schaefer screaming into the microphone to the point of causing ear-splitting feedback at the 1988 Democratic Convention. There was that retard Kathleen Kennedy Townsend who came within an eyelash of being elected Governor in 2002 based on her maiden name alone; had she run as Kathleen Smith, she wouldn't have been nominated for dog catcher.

And now there's this.

A popular seaside resort in the northeastern US state of Maryland is urging tourists to book vacations now before the ocean disappears altogether.

Borrowing from the style of Orson Welles' 1938 radio announcement that Martians were landing on Earth, the ad features the mayor of Ocean City calling on vacationers to book "before our planet spirals to a vaporous death."

"Fellow citizens, this is Rick Meehan, mayor of Ocean City, Maryland, USA, Planet Earth," he says in the ad which appears on regional television and radio as well as on YouTube, its footage sometimes jumpy as if filmed by a Super 8 camera.

"A recent study in the Royal Astronomical Society Journal predicts that our oceans will evaporate in one billion years," he says.

"This is not due to global warming but the natural effect of our Earth being dragged towards the sun, causing our beloved saltwaters to just boil away.

"As such we are advising citizens to book their Ocean City getaway now, before the ocean evaporates. This may be the last chance you have to enjoy all that Ocean City, Maryland has to offer."

As the mayor ends his appeal, scenes of the beaches, fishing, tourist shops and children banging on crabs are flashed across the screen.
Now I know what a teenager feels like when Mom busts out the naked baby pictures to show to his girlfriend.

I'm going to go hide my face for a while until the shame blows over.

The ultimate in liberal hypocrisy

When it comes to hypocrisy, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, beats a Kennedy.

Ted Kennedy's yacht was caught dumping diesel fuel into Nantucket bay today. The stunned photographer who got the photograph tried to get answers.

He asked the crewman, "What the hell are you doing?"

The crewman said that diesel fuel had gotten into the bilge and he was told to dump it.

When the photographer pointed out that the yacht was moored in coastal waters near shellfish beds and people swimming, the crewman replied, "Whatever."
Yeah. Whatever.

Asshat.

Those environmental laws...those are meant for the little people. Not for Ted f'in Kennedy, of the Royal Kennedy's.

To tell you the truth, I'm not really all that surprised by this. Ted Kennedy is as phony as the day is long.
As Newsmax reported earlier, Kennedy has opposed a proposal to construct a wind farm in Nantucket Sound to produce cheap, clean energy. Asked why, he said: "That’s where I sail."
That's right. All of us "little people" have to make sacrifices for the good of society, but God forbid one of America's Royal Family, the Kennedy's, would have to endure viewing an eyesore on the shore of the place where they sail their beloved yachts!

Can you see the steam coming out of my ears right now?
