Please, I'm begging you - STOP!

The loonies are at it again. Now it's the World Health Organization.

Establishing a link between climate change and mental health, the World Health Organisation has said extreme weather conditions like floods, droughts and natural calamities can lead to psychiatric illnesses.

"Psychosocial illnesses are a part of the various health issues associated with climate change," Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Deputy Regional Director, WHO, said.

Please. I'm begging you. STOP!

No matter how many ways you spin it, no matter how many ways you browbeat contrarian scientists, no matter how much you shout down those who disagree with you, one thing remains true: you're full of crap. There IS no global warming. One day the sheeple are going to wake up and figure it out...and then where will you be?

Hmmm...let me rethink this. If people wake up and realize they're being lied to by asshats like WHO, the UN, and the US Government, maybe, just maybe, they'll stir from their slumber and cast off the chains.

Nah. Never happen.

Don't judge us on our results, judge us on our intentions

A recurring theme with liberal asshats is the way their good intentions almost always end up making things worse for everyone. Here's a case in point: the new Federal Building in San Francisco.

Thomas Mayne’s new George H.W. Bush Federal Building now looms over midtown San Francisco. While people have sharply divergent reactions to its unique exterior design -- I happen to like it -- the verdict on the structure’s function as a office space for federal employees is nearly unanimous: it is a disaster.

Not that architectural critics care. Bedazzled by unusual design features and its focus on energy conservation, reviews of Mayne’s latest work seem to ignore whether it fulfills its functional role as a federal office building.

Based on what I have been told, it clearly does not.

And what a building it is! No heat. No AC. Bad lighting.

When I spoke with a Labor Department worker at the building (who noted that she is encountering the type of bad work conditions that her agency is supposed to enforce against), she confirmed what might have been an urban legend: that some employees must use umbrellas to keep the sun out of their cubicles.

The lack of internal climate controls has left some workers too cold and others too hot.

And then there's the elevators.

According to my source, architect Mayne has stated that federal office workers do not get enough exercise. To address this, he installed elevators in the building that only stop at every third floor. This requires employees to walk up or down one or two flights of metal stairs.

Persons with physical disabilities who cannot use stairs can use a separate elevator that stops at every floor. The foreseeable result is that employees seeking to avoid stairs use the disabled access elevator, leaving this car crammed with people and making the ride to the top extremely slow.

I am told that when the freight elevator is out of service, deliveries must use the disabled access elevator. It seems only a matter of time until a disabled worker sues the General Services Administration for providing inadequate disabled elevator access in the building.

But...it's GREEN, so that makes up for all of its other failings, right? Asshats!

Leftist Fraud

It's a funny thing about leftists. Though their various causes are supposed to reflect the purest of intentions, though they are supposed to be the "white hats", the protectors of the weak and oppressed, and the guarantors of rights to the downtrodden, they always feel this overarching need to buttress their arguments with The Big Lie. Case in point.

Scientists and environmentalists have attacked a global campaign to ban plastic bags which they say is based on flawed science and exaggerated claims.

The widely stated accusation that the bags kill 100,000 animals and a million seabirds every year are false, experts have told The Times. They pose only a minimal threat to most marine species, including seals, whales, dolphins and seabirds.

Sound familiar?

Remember Mitch Snyder and his claim of 3 million homeless Americans? The 1990 census showed the truth of the matter was that 400,000 were homeless. In shame, he committed suicide.

Remember acid rain? Why don't we ever hear about acid rain any more? Or the hole in the ozone layer? I haven't heard about that in an age.

Why, that's because the "emergency" du jour is global warming. The reason people fall for the global warming farce is because we lack institutional memory. We as a society have failed to learn the lessons of Mitch Snyder, acid rain, and the hole in the ozone layer. We will have forgotten (or will have never heard of) the plastic bags scam.

It doesn't speak well for the future. A society that doesn't believe in anything (like, for instance, the post-Christian West) will fall for everything.
