The circus is in town

The execrable Rep. Peter King (R-NY) is holding hearings ostensibly to discuss how the US can mitigate the terrorism threat emanating from radical Islam. This is the same Peter King who for decades was an open supporter of the terrorist organization, Sinn Fein.

A periodic perversion of America's ideals, regrettably witnessed at the U.S. Capitol, is an "investigation" in which Congress labels people as unAmerican because of ethnicity, religious belief or conviction.

Rep. Peter King, R-New York, used to defend the Irish Republican Army as a "legitimate force" and once declared: "The British government is a murder machine."

Now, as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, King is staging hearings on ""Muslim radicalization" aimed at exposing what he calls a "violent enemy from overseas . . . which is recruiting people from a community living in our country."

William Grigg details King's hypocrisy much better than I can in this meager post (see here).

Let's put this whole thing in its proper perspective. King isn't seeking a solution to radical Islam. King is seeking to stoke the fires of intolerance in order to fuel the war machine.

In my opinion it is King who should be subjected to hearings and jailed for his support of a terrorist organization. Let us not forget that the IRA was blowing innocent men, women, and children to smithereens long before Al Qaeda existed. Peter King has the blood of those innocents on his hands. It is the height of absurdity that this terrorist-supporting thug can hold hearings of this nature.

And yet, so-called "conservatives" are all gung-ho for the hearings and stand foursquare behind King. Last night on the drive home, I heard Spencer Hughes of Fox News Radio defending the hearings. He actually uttered this ridiculous line, "If you're Islamic and you're not involved in terrorist activities, you have nothing to be afraid of." Uh huh. Just like the innocents in Waco who didn't shoot at the ATF had nothing to be afraid of.

I'm becoming more convinced every day that the vast majority of "conservatives" are complete morons dancing to whatever tune Fox News is currently playing. In that aspect, they're every bit as dangerous to the survival of this country as the radical Left they so despise.

And just as stupid.

Conservatives and law enforcement

One of the things about so-called Conservatives that really chafes my bottom is their adoration for law enforcement.  Cops are all heroes who accepted a calling from God to be protectors of the citizenry.  Prosecutors are all heroes who eschewed the Siren call of lucrative jobs with prestigious law firms to fight crime and see to it that the guilty are punished.

As has been witnessed by anyone who has read more than a handful of Will Grigg's posts, the reality doesn't match the fantasy.

Prosecutors tend to be bastions of corruption, more concerned with their won-lost record than whether they've sent an innocent man to prison (because it was easy) or let a guilty man walk free (because the case was too hard to win).  On multiple occasions it has been discovered that exculpatory evidence has been hidden by prosecutors to assure the "win"! (See here for one example).  Why do they do this?  What's in it for them?  Why, they have political aspirations, of course!  A prosecutor with a tremendous won-lost record makes an excellent candidate for state or federal office.  Bastards.

Cops tend to be fatass bullies, quick to anger, quick to shoot those who don't react immediately to their commands.  Examples of this are legion - particularly on Will Grigg's site, but I've documented a few myself, here, here, here, and especially here.

A prime example of "quick to anger, quick to shoot" is the case of John T. Williams (H/T to Debra Farver).

The police shooting of a talented, aging Native totem carver has sparked anger and outrage in Seattle’s Native community, and beyond.

John T. Williams, long time Seattle resident and a Ditidaht member of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations of Canada’s Vancouver Island, was shot four times and killed Aug. 30 by police officer Ian D. Birk, a two-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department.

Police said Williams advanced towards Birk when the officer spotted him sitting on a ledge with a knife and shouted three commands at him to drop it.

As eyewitnesses came forward with a different version of events police then said Williams was crossing an intersection with a knife and piece of wood in his hands, refused to drop the knife and advanced towards the officer.

“His body stance did not look threatening at all,” an eyewitness told The Seattle Times. “I could only see the gentleman’s back, and he didn’t look aggressive at all. He didn’t even look up at the officer.”

Williams died between 1811 Eastlake, a private nonprofit home for chronic drinkers where he’d lived off and on, and the Pike Street Market in downtown Seattle, where he sold his carvings.

Williams was crippled with arthritis and hobbled more than he walked, Randy Lewis, a leader of the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation said. He was capable at most of turning towards the officer when he heard him shouting, to show him what he had in his hands.

That’s if he heard him shouting. Williams’ friends say he was deaf in his left ear from an infection eight years ago.

To summarize:

• A cop orders a man walking down the street minding his own business to drop the knife he's carrying.  Never mind that the block of wood he's carrying is what's known as "a clue" as to what said person's intention is for said knife.


• The cop doesn't get the response he desires; that is, the person in question doesn't immediately comply like a cowering sheep to John Law's demand.  He most likely didn't comply because he couldn't hear him.  This matters not one whit to the man in blue.


• The cop shoots him 4 times.  In broad daylight.  Like a dog.

What do you think of your "hero" cop, Conservatives?  You think he's in law enforcement because he's been called by God to protect the masses?  Or is it because he's hung like a thimble and needs a license to throw his weight around, that license being the sanction of the State in the form of a badge?

THIS is the guy who called ME a wannabe lawyer?  Who mocked ME for being "just a programmer"?  Who accused ME of being a pedophile?  THIS hayseed POS?  This clown who put the "prick" in "Prickett"?

He's not only NOT a lawyer, he's not even a REAL law-enforcement officer.  His job is one step above Mall Cop.  Worse yet, he's the kind of nightmare cop Will Grigg writes about.

Wait.  It gets better.  From the comments of the referenced Medvecky post, an open letter to the Prick's employer:

Dear Mr. Price,

It is my understanding that you employ Mr. Prickett as your Chief of Security.

In view of the findings of the Appeals Court concerning his involvement in the assault of a student of the school a few years ago, I can honestly say I don’t understand the University’s continued support of this person, but that is not the main purpose of this letter.

I am here to address Mr. Prickett’s blatant use of the University’s name and his position with it, as well as his use of the Universities computers to repeatedly violate the Privacy Act with regards to HIPPA Laws, both State and Federal.

Mr. Prickett authors a site on the web entitled “Coram Non Judice”. He fancies himself a legal expert and, with the assistance of a rogue Attorney named Natalie Malonis, distributes the private, confidential Medical and Psychological Records of children and adults he opposes on his site as well as on a site entitled “FLDSTexas”.

Further, calling himself “Texas Blue’s Man” Mr. Prickett uses his position and the equipment of the University to disseminate on his and other websites what he pro-ports to be “Child porn”. They are un-redacted pictures of children which he claims are in sexually explicit poses. As you may know, presenting a picture of a child as a sexual object or in a sexual light is illegal and considered child porn even if the child is fully clothed.

In a recent letter of explanation to Wikipedia concerning his conduct, Mr. Prickett self reported that he has now taken to wearing a concealed weapon at all times.

Mr. Prickett is running around your campus and is, frankly, a lit fuse ready to explode at those he fears “Might kill me”.

What you do about Mr. Prickett is up to you, but you HAVE been advised that he is potentially a far greater liability for the University than he was in the case of the student he allowed to be assaulted by Campus Security.

We intend to bring charges against Mr. Prickett for the HIPPA violations and for attempting to portray the children of a religion he does not favor in a sexual light, as well as bringing charges against those who aid and abet him in his perverted goals.

Something different

Too often this blog is nothing but a giant bitch fest.  Bitch, bitch, bitch.  Moan.  Complain.  Grumble.  Kvetch.

Not today.  Today I wanted to share something I stumbled upon while reading Will Griggs's excellent article entitled Shadows and Foreshadowing at Nagasaki.  The "something" to which I refer is this paper written by scientists and engineers detailing their findings in the wake of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombings of August 6th and 9th of 1945.  The paper was published on June 29th, 1946, so it contains none of the faux PC bullshit hand-wringing or political overtones we've come to associate with present-day reporting on that topic.

I highly recommend giving it a look.  I found it quite enlightening.

Naivete shattered

They believed in him.  They REALLY believed.  He was going to ride into Washington on a white steed and undo all of the evil things perpetrated by their enemy, King George the Dim.  He was their candidate.  He was their guy.

Funny how "change" (or, as I called it during the election cycle, the DoublePlusGoodHopeChange) didn't change a thing.

The Justice Department's decision to subpoena a New York Times reporter this week has convinced some press advocates that President Obama's team is pursuing leaks with the same fervor as the Bush administration.

James Risen, who shared a Pulitzer Prize for disclosing President George W. Bush's domestic surveillance program, has refused to testify about the confidential sources he used for his 2006 book "State of War: The Secret History of the C.I.A. and the Bush Administration."

"The message they are sending to everyone is, 'You leak to the media, we will get you,' " said Lucy Dalglish, executive director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. In the wake of the Bush administration's aggressive stance toward the press, she said, "as far as I can tell there is absolutely no difference, and the Obama administration seems to be paying more attention to it. This is going to get nasty."

Waaaaa! The nerve of Il Duce!  How dare he and his dastard administration investigate a member of the Fourth Estate for something as petty as the exposure of classified information!

It's no secret that I am no fan of Il Duce.  But he scores a win here.  I've been waiting for years for SOMEONE in Washington to take leaks of classified information seriously.  It started with Daniel Ellsberg and The Pentagon Papers and has continued unabated since.  And never, EVER, has the Justice Selective Prosecution of Only Those We See Fit to Persecute Department had the cojones to prosecute.  If you or I...you know, the mundanes, as William Grigg has aptly named us....were to leak classified information, we'd spend the rest of our lives in Leavenworth sharing an intimate cell with a guy named Bubba who considers himself our "boyfriend".

But the press, the Sainted Protectors of our Nation, THEY can leak classified information with impunity and, rather than receive punishment, they become famous.

I, for one, hope that has changed.  Congrats, Duce.  You got this one right.

And, to Big Media, let me just say, "Bubba says hi."

Sean Hannity has no sense of irony

As I recently lamented, my morning commute is a poorer experience since the stuffed shirts and empty heads at Fox Sports Radio replaced Steve Czaban with Screamin' A. Smith.  Today I hit the perfect storm of commuter radio hell: all of the usual radio shows I listen to went to commercial break simultaneously.  I punched my way up the XM radio dial until I came to America Right.  They were playing a replay of yesterday's Sean Hannity show.

Now, normally I wouldn't listen to Hannity on a dare.  But, because of the commercial break syncronicity, I decided it was better than listening to Viagra ads. 

The segment I caught was vintage Hannity.  The questionably Constitutional new law in Arizona regarding illegal aliens was the subject du jour.  I find myself somewhere in the middle of the continuum between Hannity's cheerleading for the measure and William Grigg's excoriation of same, though, in truth, I'm much close to Will Grigg's viewpoint than that of the simpleton, Hannity.

As Hannity's unabashed cheerleading screed droned to a close, he welcomed a guest with whom he wanted to discuss the measure: none other than Scamnesty cheerleader John McCommie!

To my utter amazement, Hannity and McCommie discussed the bill for several minutes without once mentioning that McCommie is the leading proponent tool supporting Scamnesty.  To Hannity's credit, he DID ask McCommie at the end of the interview if he (McCommie) had any second thoughts about having supported Scamnesty during King George the Dim's regime.  But he spoke to McCommie for at least 2.5 minutes -- an eternity on radio -- without acknowledging McCommie's immigration stance.

Not only is Hannity intellectually challenged, he is completely untouched by irony.  Who else would fail to see the irony of a segment in celebration of a crackdown on illegal immigration that features John McCommie?

I feel dumber for having listened to that segment.  That's 5 minutes of my life utterly wasted.  Utterly.  Wasted.

Domestic terrorists...us?

DHSS (not a misspelling - you can't spell Schutzstaffel without the double 'S') has determined that there is a grave threat of internal terrorism in this country. This threat isn't from active, organized groups like ALF (Animal Liberation Front) or ELF (Environmental Liberation Front), groups who have an actual history of terroristic acts. No, this threat is from Right-Wing Extremists. You know, like....well, apparently, anyone to the right of Mao Tse Tung.

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

Yep, that's right. As someone who 'reject[s] government authority in favor of state or local authority', yours truly is, according to der Staat, a domestic terrorist. Never mind that this Vulture has neither engaged in nor advocated any act of violence against the US government (or, for that matter, acts of violence against anything at all with the exception of computer keyboards). Never mind that this Vulture is a hard-working taxpayer living what's left of the American dream and whose only 'crime' is a wish to return to the founding principles of Life, Liberty, and Freedom. I oppose collectivism; I am, therefore, a thought criminal.

And it isn't just me! If you're ex-military, you're a likely terrorist! Why is that? Why, Tim McVeigh was ex-military. Ergo, all ex-miltary are suspect, according to chief DHSS asshat Janet Napolitano.

"I was briefed on the general topic, which is one that struck a nerve as someone personally involved in the Timothy McVeigh prosecution," Ms. Napolitano said.

Quod erat demonstrandum. NOT!

The White House has distanced itself from this inflamatory report (WHY does that seem to be a running theme with the Obey-me administration? One of the organs of der Staat issues a controversial 'ruling', and the White House runs for cover).

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson of Mississippi, a Democrat, was extremely unhappy with the report and wants answers - now!

"This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans -- including war veterans," Mr. Thompson said in the letter sent Tuesday.

"As I am certain you agree, freedom of association and freedom of speech are guaranteed to all Americans -- whether a person's beliefs, whatever their political orientation, are 'extremist' or not," Mr. Thompson said.

The report "blurred the line," and Mr. Thompson said he is "disappointed and surprised that the department would allow this report to be disseminated" to law enforcement officials nationwide.

The American Legion has slammed the report as well.

American Legion chief David Rehbein on Tuesday blasted the report as "incomplete, and, I fear, politically-biased" and took special aim at its warning that returning veterans having difficulties reintegrating society could be recruited by right-wing groups for possible terrorist attacks.

In a letter to Napolitano, Rehbein underlined the document's mention of Oklahoma City bombing author Timothy McVeigh's US Army background and called it "as unfair as using Osama bin Laden as the sole example of Islam."

"The American Legion is well aware and horrified at the pain inflicted during the Oklahoma City bombing, but Timothy McVeigh was only one of more than 42 million veterans who have worn this nation's uniform during wartime," said Rehbein, who group comprises some 2.6 million members.

So what's my take on it? It's simple, really. When King Obey-me took office, he appointed former Clinton administration cronies to head key federal agencies and cabinet positions. Hearken back with me to those halcyon days of yesteryear, when Clinton administration paranoia about Right-Wing Extremists ran amok. For the nostalgic among you, this is just like going back to 1993 all over again...except without the dreadful Mariah Carey soundtrack.

Vulture Droppings - the Team Donkey convention

I am implementing a semi-randomly-regular feature called Vulture Droppings. It will be a kind of "Random Thoughts" post in which I try to quickly summarize a particularly large event. Think of it being sort of like what a vulture leaves behind after devouring a horse. You don't get the whole horse, just highly processed leftovers.

Ah, convention week. It sucked. No Chicago '68. No chants of "The whole world is watching!". No cops in riot gear beating on hippie scum. The convention ended up being a big effing kumbaya fest of Team Donkey solidarity and unity. *sigh*

I'm particularly disappointed with HRC. Since when does Beelzebub play nice and act the part of the gracious loser? Man, am I sore about that! There's no stake through the heart. So why's she being such a good soldier for Team Donkey? Hopefully there's some nefarious plot afoot behind the scenes, or this could be the most boring election ever.

Okay, so since it was a boring convention and not Chicago '68, there should have been relative good behavior on the part of the police, right? Nay, nay! Unlike Chicago '68, they weren't busting heads on hippies. They were arresting an ABC reporter for daring to film Democrat high rollers in a public place. And they were brutalizing and arresting Christian teenage girls for writing on the sidewalk in chalk.

William Grigg is right. Police no longer view their duty as protecting and serving the people of their jurisdiction. They view their duty as protecting and serving der Staat.

You might ask yourself - what kind of President might Obama be? Team Donkey is touting him as the heir to FDR. According to Al Gorebells, he is like Abraham Lincoln. While those of us who understand what Lincoln was beyond the mythology taught in public schools have reason to be fearful of that assessment, the reality is worse. Obama is showing signs of being the next Woodrow Wilson, a totalitarian thug. A small example from convention week.

I'm listening to WGN, where Stanley Kurtz apparently just finished talking about his research. The first two callers - apparently triggered by the Obama campaign - both wanted Kurtz silenced.

I'm beyond disgust. I've been bitterly opposed to 'silence the critics' on blogs and in the media everywhere. This is not remotely the kind of politics that represents change that I want to be part of.

Okay, what's the big deal? This sort of thing happens all the time, right. The difference this time is that Obama's campaign actually orchestrated the shout down campaign. Check out the text of the alert here. Ah, censorship - the mark of the Marxist!

Those of you who are only aware of Woodrow Wilson through the mythology taught in the public schools would be surprised to know that this Progressive was, in fact, the first Fascist. He employed every one of the methods of consolidated State control employed by Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco. He employed thugs to silence his critics. He jailed those who wouldn't "get with the program". His "war socialism" (as he called it) was a massive campaign to indoctrinate the American people to the whole concept of the individual being nothing, the state being everything. Does that sound familiar? It should. "Tutto nello Stato, niente al di fuori dello Stato, nulla contro lo Stato" ("Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State") was the foundation of Mussolini's Italian Fascism. Obama's already started down the path of silencing his critics, and he's not even in power yet.

Usually, once a convention is completed, the candidate whose party convened receives a huge bounce in the polls. For Obama.....not so much. Zogby shows the race as a dead heat, not a good sign for Mr. Obama. Even the most optimistic poll (from Obama's perspective) only shows him with an 8 point lead. By contrast, Michael Dukakis came out of his convention in '88 with a 17 point lead. McCommie must be beside himself with joy. It doesn't look good for the cause of DoublePlusGood HopeChange.

Sore Toes and a Bleeding Heart

I'm a firm believer in pointing out writers and bloggers who are doing a commendable job of drawing attention to the issues of freedom and government corruption that are the predominant theme of this blog. Anyone who's ever read this blog knows that I have a major man-crush on Vox Day and Steve Czaban. I've always enjoyed the wit and wisdom of Der Hausfraurer, Nate. In the past year, I've added William Grigg (Pro Libertate) and Andrew Bolt to my list of those who "get it" and are fighters against over-grasping government.

Today I'd like to call your attention to a lady who is fighting the good fight against a singularly corrupt and evil organ of government -- Child Protective Services (CPS). I'd like to introduce you to Sore Toes and a Bleeding Heart, a blog that caught fire during the FLDS fiasco.

Contrary to the name, "Sore Toes" is NOT a bleeding heart in the traditional, Upper West Side Limousine Liberal sense of the term. Her heart bleeds for the children being yanked away from family and home on the flimsiest of excuses. She's got a very good grasp of the issues, and a real nose for digging up the dirt on the "civil servants" behind Der Staat's malevolent claim on our children.

She's a talented writer and is significantly nicer in her treatment of the foul vermin she reports on than, say, Vox Day, Nate, or I. It's not a chick blog -- she addresses hard issues and does it well. Give her a read -- you'll be glad you did.

Wiener of the Week

The WotW for this week is not a single person. It is not an organized group of people. No, this week you can think of the WotW as a class-action award. This week the "wieners" are the tens -- hell, maybe HUNDREDS -- of thousands of people who plan to hold their nose and vote for John McCommie this November.

William Grigg, a man of principle, has said:

[T]he "lesser" evil isn't; when it is chosen it is always the greater evil, because it's the one that is actually done, rather than serving as a convenient rhetorical device.

Those people who will vote for McCommie because "Obama is worse", or their fear is of "the damage Obama could do with court appointments", or who have the mistaken notion that "we'll be able to have some input with McCain that we won't have with Obama" are drinking that Team Elephant Kool-Aid.

The worst damage done to personal freedoms and the most long-term damage done via creeping Socialism post-LBJ has been done by REPUBLICANS. See, Bush, George W., if you doubt what I'm saying.

A liberal-leaning Republican is several orders of magnitude worse for the nation than the most Marxist Democrat. A Democrat could have never normalized relations with Communist China; it took Nixon to do that. A Democrat could have never implemented wage/price setting tyranny; it took Nixon to do that. Democrats couldn't get socialist health care passed; it took GWB to get an incrementalist version of that passed.

Pay attention, people! The worst possible thing that can come out of this election is a McCommie victory! Just because he has an 'R' after his name doesn't mean he's playing for the same team as you. He isn't. He's a One-Worlder, in the mold of his idols, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. You're idiots if you waste your vote on him. Idiots. And well-deserving of the Wiener of the Week.

Calling out prophets for hire

William Grigg from Pro Libertate has an uncanny knack for calling out people of power and influence. He's especially good at pegging phonies. In this article, he takes on the "palace prophets" of our age.

The object of sharing this rather emancipated paraphrase of I Kings 22 is to underscore the moral and practical futility of seeking wisdom from religious leaders who are on the state's payroll, or who covet the power that comes from proximity to the politically powerful.

I do not intend to interpolate my own views into the Scripture, but from what I know of human nature it seems likely that many of the payola prophets who took part in Ahab's “Faith-Based Initiative” probably believed that their compromises were necessary in order to advance some worthwhile objective or another. After all, working in partnership with the government is the key to getting things done, isn't it?

Here's a critically important principle: In any “public/private partnership,” the state is always the senior partner. When Christian leaders are on Caesar's payroll, they have to render to him things to which he is not entitled. And when Caesar's tactical priorities change, those religious leaders who thought they could co-opt the power of the state to do good will discover, to their dismay, that the state has co-opted them, leaving it stronger and more hostile toward the values those leaders supposedly served.

Chief among those who serve on Caesar's payroll, and the main target of Mr. Grigg's article, is faux-Evangelical "Doctor"* James Dobson.

"Doctor" Dobson has walked down the same unholy path as his predecessors, Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson. To say I have nothing but the highest contempt for those two asshats is to understate the loathing I have and have ALWAYS had for them. They were Christianity's worst enemies, the fifth-column undermining us from within with their trust in the arm of Government over the arm of God.

"Doctor" Dobson has now supplanted the dead Fallwell and doddering (and utterly sold-out) Robertson (remember: he endorsed Rudy f'ing Guiliani earlier this year). He stands alone as the "palace prophet" in the ignoble tradition of Zedekiah and the other 399 sell-outs of Ahab's court. His allegiance is no longer to the things of God. No, he wants to be on the side of power.

Earlier this year, the "Doctor" boldly proclaimed that he would not under ANY circumstance EVER vote for John McCommie. Yeah, sure. Now he's hedging and saying that he might "reconsider" and actually endorse McCommie since Obama is so antithetical to his beliefs. And what beliefs might THOSE be, "Doctor"? Your belief in remaining close to the levers of power?

By their fruits you shall know them. If "Doctor" Dobson really cared about the things of God, he would decry BOTH candidates and BOTH major political parties and work his ass off to throw Evangelical support behind either Dr. Ron Paul or Libertarian Bob Barr. But he'd never do that, because, given the libertarian beliefs of both of those good men, there wouldn't be any perks or goodies to be garnered from their presidency.

"Doctor" Dobson, you're a phony and a false prophet. Those of you who call yourselves Christians need to distance yourselves from this charlatan posthaste, or you'll sink with him when Caesar decides he's done with him.

* Bias alert. I have a default posture of negativity towards anyone who insists on being called "Doctor" who isn't a practicing clinician or professor. My pastor has a Doctorate: he insists on being called "Richard". My kinda guy!

Liberty in Eclipse -- a review

I discovered William Grigg's excellent website, Pro Libertate, quite by accident. What a fortunate accident it was! I was instantly aware that this was a writer of no small talent nor intellect. His insights into the nascent police state the Dear Leader (GWB) is assembling are dead on accurate and simultaneously chilling.

Because I enjoy Mr. Grigg's blog so much, I decided to purchase and read his book, Liberty in Eclipse. Oh. My. God.

For the first time in my life I understand, REALLY understand, what has happened to us as a nation. To use a Matrix analogy, I took the red pill when I read this book. Hang on, Dorothy! This book is the literary equivalent of a two-by-four to the mind.

The first thing that struck me was how unaware I was of the construction of Police State infrastructure that had been happening right under my nose for more than a decade. I was wholly unaware of the number of Congressional bills signed into law with innocuous sounding names like the Military Commissions Act. These bills served to bestow more and more power to the president to trample on the human liberties of both citizen and non-citizen alike.

Had you heard anything about the MCA before I mentioned it here? I ask because I hadn't, and I consider myself to be extremely well-versed in the political and social issues of our day. While the mainstream media is consistently beaten up for leaning to the left, I think a more apt description may not be "left-leaning" but rather "pro-Big Brother". How else can you explain why only Jack Cafferty of CNN (who usually comes across as a socialist stooge) said jack about the MCA during the course of its run through congress as it became the law of the land?

And what is the significance of the MCA? It basically makes the president a law unto himself. Anyone, citizen or non-citizen, once designated an "enemy combatant", loses ALL Constitutional protections as well as protections that pre-date the Constitution, such as Habeas Corpus. Once you're designated as an Enemy of the State (to use Soviet nomenclature) , you can kiss your ass good-bye; it's off to the Gulag for you!

One thing that really jumps out and grabs you about this book is how patently EVIL GWB is. Two things that really stand out are:

• He has been the driving force for torture of "enemy combatants" against the wishes of the military whose job it is to administer the torture.


• He has used the practice of "signing statements" (utilized in the past by presidents to clarify to those charged with implementing a signed congressional bill what they are implementing or how to do it) a staggering 435 time during his presidency; prior to GWB, that practice had been utilized only 322 times in 212 years. And he's not using those signing statements to clarify; rather, he's using them to NEGATE and effectively override the will of Congress and substitute it with his own will.

God help us!

Among the other topics dealt with in the book are no-knock warrants, the militarization of Police departments, and the manifest ways that the government tries to "collectivize" us.

Mr. Grigg finishes his book with a chapter which proclaims his optimistic opinion that all is not lost, that what we had CAN be recovered. I wish I could say I was that optimistic. But I'm not. We're too far down the rabbit hole to make it back without some sort of miraculous change in the mindset of the American people. Given my utter lack of faith in them, chances are slim.

I would strongly encourage you to read this book. Get your eyes opened to what we've become. It's some kinda education.

Ann Coulter, Kool-Aid Drinker

Those who know me know that this little Vulture has always had a "thing" for Ann Coulter. Hot, smart, and conservative....ROWR!

But she lost me with this execrable pile of maudlin near-pornography.

In a conversation recently, I mentioned as an aside what a great president George Bush has been and my friend was surprised. I was surprised that he was surprised.

You were what?!?!? Surprised?!?!?!?!?

In the next few days I'll be reviewing a book by William Grigg of Pro Libertate fame. Before reading that book, I considered GWB to be a traitor, a sell-out, a deceiver. After reading the book, I consider him one of the five worst presidents ever -- passing the notorious Richard Nixon and approaching the level of the ruinous Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, after reading that book, I consider him one of the 100 most evil people to have ever disgraced this planet.

And this is the guy whom Ann Coulter has chosen to fawn over?!?!?

The sheer repetition of lies about Bush is wearing people down. There is not a liberal in this country worthy of kissing Bush's rear end, but the weakest members of the herd run from Bush. Compared to the lickspittles denying and attacking him, Bush is a moral giant -- if that's not damning with faint praise. John McCain should be so lucky as to be running for Bush's third term. Then he might have a chance.

That's it! She's lost her ever-effin' mind.

Weakest members of the herd?!?!??! How about anyone with a thirst for liberty and a hatred of duplicity and double-dealing?

What happened to you? You have Ronald Reagan on a pedestal -- at least there's justification there; he saved us from an utterly ruinous Jimmy Carter second administration. But Bush?!?!?! I just don't get it. He ruined the Republican party, but not without utterly betraying it first with his drunken sailor-like spending and his police state Schutzstaffel, excuse me, Homeland Security. You've lost it, Ann. You've just simply lost it.

I'm sorry. You're no longer "my girl".

Das Überwachenden/Der Staat grow bolder

It seems our friends in the Senate have passed a bill requiring that the DNA of every newborn child in America be retrieved and warehoused for...well, we can't be sure what for, can we?

The Newborn Genetic Screening bill was passed by the Senate last December. The bill violates the U.S. Constitution and the Nuremberg Code, writes Twila Brase, president of the Citizen’s Council on Health Care (CCHC). “The DNA taken at birth from every citizen is essentially owned by the government, and every citizen becomes a potential subject of government-sponsored genetic research,” she states. “It does not require consent and there are no requirements to inform parents about the warehousing of their child’s DNA for the purpose of genetic research..."

As usual, there's one lonely voice standing in opposition to Das Überwachenden.

The federal government lacks the Constitutional authority as well as the competence to develop a newborn screening program, states Rep. Ron Paul, M.D. (R-TX).

And ya'll wondered why I was so ga-ga over the guy in supporting his presidential run!

Both civil libertarians and the medical profession are trying to get President Traitor to veto this patently unconstitutional POS, but, if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on old Chimpy signing the bill as soon as it clears the House. The violation of the people's liberties matters not one wit to old Chimpy. Not. One. Wit.

But what I find especially irksome in all of this is (1) this bill was passed by the Senate in December, and (2) I'm only finding out about this in APRIL. Where has the media been? For heaven's sakes, people! Get your noses out of Brittney's ass and pay attention to the things that really matter!

TSA Explained

William Griggs at Pro Libertate is rapidly becoming a go-to read for me. His most recent post did more to explain the Brave New World in which we live than anything I've read prior to this.

You see, I've been using this blog to rail against the outrages of TSA, ATF, and other organs of Der Staat because I see these things occurring and want to see them exposed and (hopefully) stopped. But I've done so without fully understanding the milieu. Now I get it.

When a grandmother is molested at a checkpoint, it's standard procedure -- but woe betide the grandmother who dares put up what meager and half-hearted resistance she can. Turning traumatized geriatric women into "violent felons" displays one facet of the perverse genius of the Homeland Security State.

You see, from the Leviathan's point of view, only those employed to make or enforce policy are really persons; the rest of us are people.

If this distinction is difficult to understand, then consider the wisdom shared in (of all things) the 1960 Jerry Lewis film Cinderfella. Early in the story, Lewis's character receives a visit from his Fairy Godfather (look, that's what he was called in the movie), played by the always delightful Ed Wynn. Cinderfella makes a remark to the effect that he's always tried to be nice to "people and persons." Asked to elaborate, Lewis's character explains that only a chosen few are sufficiently important to be considered individual persons; the rest of us are people.

And the light bulb glows.

As a "people", one who will never be a "person", I can safely say that we will receive no satisfaction, justice, or relief from Der Staat until it either collapses under the weight of its own hubris, or is brought down by the "people". If I were a betting man (I'm not - it's the one vice I managed to avoid in my life), I'd put all of my money on option #1. There's already more than enough hubris among the "persons" to guarantee the collapse of Leviathan. It's what will come out of the ruins and replace Leviathan that worries me.
