Stink. Stank. Stunk.

It has been postulated that leftist idealism is a mental disorder.  It has been asserted that leftist idealism is partly genetic.  I tend not to put much stock in that kind of quack science/quack psychology.  That is, until I read something like this.
The New York Times has just reported on a new trend towards what's sometimes known as soap-dodging. Among those who have cut down on daily showers, baths or hair-washing were a woman who swipes a sliced lemon under her armpits instead of deodorant, another who uses baby wipes to freshen up after her lunchtime runs, and a salesman who shampoos only once a month and gave up anti-perspirant for three years.
Why in the name of sanity is this happening? It's partly as an extension of the "save the planet" mentality we're badgered with relentlessly by leftards.
There are, of course, environmental benefits. In a bid to reduce his carbon footprint to the absolute minimum, environmentalist Donnachadh McCarthy, 51, limits his showers to about twice a week.
Apparently it's not enough for leftards to offend us with their demands on our wealth and freedoms. Now we have to put up with BO in the name of Save the Earth.

A job opening for TxBluesMan?

Tip of the hat to Tizona Group's "token American", Angus Dei, for this beauty.

The Civil Rights Division encourages qualified applicants with targeted disabilities to apply. Targeted disabilities are deafness, blindness, missing extremities, partial or complete paralysis, convulsive disorder, mental retardation, mental illness, severe distortion of limbs and/or spine…

The Department of Justice welcomes and encourages applications from persons with physical and mental disabilities.
What's that? The DoJ is looking for retard lawyers? I have just the guy for the job. What's that? He's OVERQUALIFIED? Can't say I'm surprised...

BTW, Tizona -- if you're looking for another American to add to your stable, I'd be honored.

Wiener of the Week

And to think that this simple-minded mouth-breathing waste of oxygen was almost the Governor of Maryland! The title of her polemic says it all: Why Barack Obama represents American Catholics better than the pope does.

When Obama meets the pope tomorrow, they'll politely disagree about reproductive freedoms and homosexuality, but Catholics back home won't care, because they know Obama's on their side. In fact, Obama's agenda is closer to their views than even the pope's.
Sooooooo. What you're saying is that, because many American Catholics have deviated from the faith as taught in your church's catechism, the Pope is less relevant. Which, in what passes for your mind, makes Obama, who agrees with your deviation from your church's beliefs, the truer Catholic leader.

xfloggingkylex, you're the Psych major...PLEASE make sense of this for me! After all, you've taken classes in Abnormal Psychology and I haven't.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, you dim-witted troll, you're the Wiener of the Week.

Wiener of the Week

File this week's WotW one under: do you live on the same planet as the rest of us? Or, perhaps, under Twilight Zone Media.

Apparently, some members of Big Media (the BM for short) live such insulated, compartmentalized lives that they cannot distinguish reality from "the script". This guy is exhibit A.

The Sarah Palin Phenomenon is doomed.

But it's not because of her lack of foreign policy experience or her deer-in-the-headlights look during part of her interview last week with ABC's Charles Gibson.

The primary reason why the Palin bubble will burst is that the media will decide that they are bored with her. They'll need to move to shine a light on a fresh issue or individual.

This is how the world works in the age of 24/7 news cycles. Whether the subject is Britney Spears, Michael Jordan or Sarah Palin, we inevitably raise stars to mythic levels, out of all reasonable proportions. Then we knock them down. (Look out, Michael Phelps. Your time is coming, too.)
"We build 'em up, and we take 'em down." That's the script. There's only one problem: nobody in the BM was remotely responsible for "building up" Sarah Palin! That was a legitimate grass roots phenomenon. Taking her down (or, at least trying to) has been the raison d’être for the BM for a solid 3 weeks now.

The hubris! The self-importance! The unmitigated gall of this clown! But, and I can't emphasize this enough, what is most striking, well beyond the arrogance, is the self-delusion. This guy simply cannot see past "the script". Reality and "the script" are one in the same. This guy not only shouldn't be writing, he should be institutionalized.

Jon Friedman, for your self-delusional jaunt into the Twilight Zone, you're the Wiener of the Week!

"Fatal delusion" - an Aussie speaks on climate change

I think I found a new columnist to add to my collection of those I regularly read (you'll find links to their work in the right column, under "What I Read (you should too)"). This guy, Andrew Bolt, from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is a frickin' genius.

I can't do this article justice - you just got to read the whole thing. The article begins by commenting on a young man, age 17, who suffers from mental problems due to an irrational fear of climate change.

"A 17-year-old man was referred to the inpatient psychiatric unit at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne with an eight-month history of depressed mood . . . He also . . . had visions of apocalyptic events."

(So have Alarmist of the Year Tim Flannery, Profit of Doom Al Gore and Sir Richard Brazen, but I digress.)
Zing! But he's just getting started.
And here is a senior Sydney Morning Herald journalist aghast at the horrors described in the report on global warming released on Friday by Rudd's guru, Professor Ross Garnaut: "Australians must pay more for petrol, food and energy or ultimately face a rising death toll . . ."

Wow. Pay more for food or die. Is that Rudd's next campaign slogan?

Of course, we can laugh at this -- and must -- but the price for such folly may soon be your job, or at least your cash.
Mr. Bolt goes on to describe why the Indians and Chinese have balked at implementing carbon standards (hint: because they're not stupid).
Their conclusion? They couldn't actually find anything bad in India that was caused by man-made warming: "No firm link between the documented (climate) changes described below and warming due to anthropogenic climate change has yet been established."

In fact, they couldn't find much change in the climate at all.
Nor can anyone else, for that matter, with the exception of Al Gorebells and his pack of fanatics.

It is a fun and informative article. I highly recommend that you check it out.

Code Pink goes medieval on the Marines

Code Pink is an organization of activists working within the system to achieve political solutions to real world problems. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I knew I couldn't say that with a straight face.

What Code Pink really is is a coven of flaming psycho communist [really bad word]s opposed to all things American. Which, naturally, includes the Marines. As I detailed some months ago, Code Pink received a special permit from the city of Berkeley which allows them to protest the Marine recruiting office in that city. But, apparently, the protests in and of themselves haven't been sufficient to make the Marines disappear. So now good old Code Pink has brought in the big guns.

Code Pink is now resorting to witchcraft to beef up the number of its supporters protesting a controversial Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Berkeley, Calif.

The women's anti-war group has told ralliers to come equipped with spells and pointy hats...
You can't make this stuff up!

The guy who postulated that Liberalism is a mental illness is looking more prescient with every passing day.

Oh those wacky liberals!

A running item on this blog for some time has been the subject of liberal fascism. On at least three occasions (more if you count the Berkeley city council trying to oust the Marines) I have shown examples of the leftist mentality of "it's for the common good, therefore YOU WILL DO IT!!!"

Today I have three distinct examples of leftist asshattery. The first comes from right here in the People's Republic of Maryland.

A group in Montgomery County, Md., seeking a public vote on a law providing special rights to people with "gender identity" issues has posted a video on YouTube of an aide to a county council member apparently trying to intimidate volunteers collecting petition signatures in support of that vote.

At the time, volunteers had reported to the organization they had been subjected to harassment by those supporting the county law that has been interpreted to mean the county is ordering all "public facilities" be open to either men or women, based on their own perceived gender.

Officials then told WND Dana Beyer, a senior policy adviser to Councilwoman Duchy Trachtenberg, D-At Large, had approached volunteers while they were seeking petition signatures and provided disruptions, "telling volunteers to 'shut up' and getting petition collectors removed from shopping malls by complaining to the management."

John Garza, an attorney for the volunteers, indicated one possible result could be a civil rights lawsuit.

"I am deeply troubled by these intimidation tactics. Such tactics are commonly used by totalitarian governments. There is no place for this in Montgomery County. This undemocratic conduct is especially reprehensible when it is coming from a senior-level employee of the council," he said at the time.

Today the organization released a statement accompanying a YouTube video officials explained shows Beyer falsely telling petition collectors and would-be signers they would be asked to leave a Giant food store's sidewalk.

The video shows the person telling volunteers, "An e-mail went out; you're going to be asked to leave. Any petitions gathered today are illegal."
What a creative little brown shirt Mr. Garza is! And all in the name of letting men in drag go into women's rest rooms and shower facilities. Such a noble cause! * sarcasm alert *

This item reflects the loony left's growing break with reality.
Experts gathered in Sydney say governments around the world focus too much on fighting terrorism while obesity and other so-called lifestyle diseases kill millions more people. The experts say that overcoming deadly factors such as poor diet, smoking and a lack of exercise should take top priority in the fight against a growing epidemic of preventable chronic disease.

The message at the Oxford Health Alliance Summit in Sydney is that while terrorism is a threat, it poses far less risk to world health than obesity, diabetes and smoking-related illnesses.
Gee, why do you suppose the Left is so concerned about everyone's health? Oh, yeah! It's because THEY WANT TO TAKE OVER HEALTH CARE. Then the fascist bastards will get to tell us all what we can eat, what we can drink, and how much exercise we have to get in order to qualify to wait in line 9 months for brain surgery.

Last but not least, is there no issue into which leftist-led government won't insert itself? Welcome to Big Master.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday signed one of the nation's toughest laws on pet sterilization, requiring most dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered by the time they are 4 months old.

The ordinance is aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating the thousands of euthanizations conducted in Los Angeles' animal shelters every year.

The ordinance does exempt some animals, including those that have competed in shows or sporting competitions, guide dogs, animals used by police agencies and those belonging to professional breeders.

The average pet owner, however, must have their dog or cat spayed or neutered by the time it reaches 4 months of age (as late as 6 months with a letter from a veterinarian). People with older unneutered pets and newcomers to the city with animals also have to obey the law.

First-time offenders will receive information on subsidized sterilization services and be given an additional 60 days. If they still fail to comply they could be fined $100 and ordered to serve eight hours of community service. A subsequent offense could result in a $500 fine or 40 hours of community service.
Vee haf vays of making you spay! That's right, use the power of government to FORCE people to do what you deem to be "good". Isn't that how a good Liberal always does things?

Do you think that maybe, MAYBE, the dude with the "Liberalism is a mental illness" book was on to something?

DW discovers weak sisters seeking government intervention

DW found a news item that highlights an issue frequently broached within Vox Popoli. That is the issue of crybaby weak sisters clambering for the government to step in and “do something” about some perceived problem or other. This one is headed, predictably, by a “Ms”.

Passengers Bill Of Rights! Another TSA in the making?
Human beings should never be treated this way.” Hanni contends that airline greed is the real problem and she is adamant in her belief that it will take a Government mandated Airline Passengers Bill of Rights to rectify the situation. “Airline industry attempts at these band aid solutions are way too little… way too late. This is going to take the active involvement of our Federal representatives to finally take a stand for everyone who travels.
Why can't the airlines stand up and take care of this? Sounds like another TSA situation forming. Responsibility?? The tarmac does suck. I am torn with this.
Maybe the guy with the “Liberalism is a mental illness” book has a point. The first response to any inconvenience for a liberal is to ask the government to intervene. Every time.

Just as I suspected!

It seems that a noted psychiatrist has determined that liberals are nuts.

Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."

Wait, it gets better.
Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by the two major candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder.

"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."
Now, as much as I would like to jump up and down and ROFL and all of that, I have to take the good doctor's premise with a grain of salt. Suppose some commie rat bastard had written a book in which he "proved" that Libertarianism was a mental illness caused by a psychotic Greta Garbo complex - then how would I react? I mean, these people can claim to have "proof" of just about anything, but that don't make it so, now does it?

Still...the thought of pinko heads exploding at the very idea that their cherished Liberalism is equated with being a spoiled, angry child...
