I for one am sick and tired of science and its over-hyped, overblown, overly dramatic "findings". At the heart of each of those "findings" is the need for a "solution" that will require massive amounts of funding for more "science" or bigger government.
Here's a recent sampling.
World is 'one poor harvest' from chaos, new book warns
Summary: overpopulation and global warming are going to wipe us out if we don't do
something. "Something" isn't defined exactly, but more science funding is the implied "solution".
If Quakes Weren’t Enough, Enter the ‘Superstorm’
Summary: a superstorm
could hit California, dumping up to 10 feet of rain on the state in a short span of time. This would result in the Sacramento valley becoming an inland sea. Considering that this "study" was funded by FEMA and CEMA, I'll leave it to you to figure out if there was any ulterior agenda in the "findings".
Smoking Damages DNA Within Minutes, Research Shows
Summary: Okay, setting aside the utter absurdity of the premise, that you're doing
life-threatening damage to your body the instant you smoke your first cigarette, the study aims to scare smokers and those who might consider starting to smoke by claiming that your DNA is damaged and your risk of short-term cancers increased within minutes of your first puff. Chemicals called PAHs are to blame. Obviously, more money must be spent in researching these all-powerful and lethal carcinogens.
Is it any wonder that no one outside of the collectivists who wish to herd us all together into sheeplehood believes in AGW any more? All of science's "solutions" involve increased taxation and more power to the almighty
Staat. Science is coming dangerously close to losing its credibility.
Hmm. Maybe that's not such a bad thing.

Il Duce, the Amerikan President, likes czars. He's appointed so may of them that I honestly can't even hazard an estimate as to how many there actually are. While Chairmanship of the President's Council on Jobs and Competiveness doesn't technically qualify as a "czarship", the new Chairman of that Council certainly merits some sort of Czar-like title. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you -
Jeffery Immelt.
President Obama today will name General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt chairman of the new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, the White House announced overnight.
Why is this any more noteworthy than any other
Il Duce appointment? Because General Electric is the #1 looter corporation, and GE Chairman Jeffery Imelt is
The King of Looters.
When Democrats said President Obama was “pro-business,” we didn’t know they meant one business in particular.
There are a few companies on the Obama corporate A List – Democratic patrons Google and Goldman Sachs both turn up again and again at White House functions and for special recognition – but no company seems to get the VIP treatment that General Electric receives.
[...]
Whether it is pushing the president’s plan for global warming fees in order to create demand for his “Ecomagination” line of windmills, solar panels, etc., boosting the president’s national health-care law as part of an effort to sell more medical equipment, or enthusing over the Obama strategy of making loans available for industrial exporters, Immelt has been an Obama stalwart all along. Immelt has also consistently argued to shareholders that there is big money to be made in advancing the Democratic agenda.
The fact is that no company has more riding on AGW than GE, and no company is more involved in lobbying for crap legislation to lock out its competition than GE. The bill that outlawed incandescent light bulbs? GE was behind that. All the crap legislation making our nation's "energy policy" completely reliant on wind, sun, and unicorn farts? GE was behind that. GE is crony capitalism at its worst.
Il Duce is all about rewarding his supporters and punishing those who oppose him. This is a bald-faced example of unmerited political payback.
But then, "unmerited" is a looter's middle name.

Not even as cynical a bird as I would have thought that Big Warming could be this shameless.
As the investigation continues as to what brought down the French airliner over the Atlantic Ocean with 228 people on board, a Russian climatologist believes global warming played a significant part.
Kokorin said that global weather conditions are becoming more severe, and the cause goes back to one source: the acceleration of the greenhouse effect due to the activities of man on earth.
Pardon me while I pick myself up off the floor after ROFLMAO.
This guy is no scientist; he's an availability entrepreneur, just like Al Gorebells. He's trying to make a buck off of an unscientific but potentially lucrative scare scam. The whole global warming crowd is analogous to a bunch of long-haired dudes in robes standing on the side of the road with "Repent! The end is near!" signs.
And I, for one, am sick of their tired act.

9 degrees. -3 degrees wind chill.
These aren't normal temperatures for Frederick. It's usually more in the range of 30-40 degrees for the high (today's high is supposed to be 17) and 20-32 degrees for the low. But the Arctic Blast that hit the Midwest last week has arrived here. We're going to have a chilly weekend.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking if you live in Utah, Idaho, Wisconsin, Montana, Minnesota, anywhere in Canada, or any other cold place I failed to mention. What a poofter, griping about 9 degrees! You have to understand that all weather is relative. My 9 degrees, adjusted to the spectrum of "normal", is your -25 degrees. And I'm no poofter! I left the gym last night still wearing my workout clothes (light Under Armour style shirt, shorts) and a coat. One of the personal trainers acted like I was going to my death! "You run to your car!", she said. I walked. It's not THAT cold.
So why even bring up the weather, then? Because we're in the midst of the second consecutive Winter with below normal temperatures. And things seem to be trending towards continuing colder weather for the foreseeable future. Even CNN ran a story (on Lou Dobbs Tonight) asking the question, "Are we entering a new Ice Age?" There is ample scientific evidence to support that hypothesis.
This weekend I'll post Part I of my anti-AGW blitzkrieg - Follow the Money. Big Warming isn't about temperatures. It isn't about 'saving the planet'. It's about money and power.

Apparently Ardwulf doesn't know me very well, or he wouldn't have written this in response to comments I made over on What I think you should read in defense of Harry's post there.
I can’t help but notice that you’re doing your ‘research’ at a climate change denial blog, which in turn has gotten its data (in both of the articles you linked,) from WorldNetDaily, a right-wing propaganda outfit with very shady financing, ties to white supremacist organizations and which has promoted, among other things, belief in the silly North American Union conspiracy theory.
If this is one’s definition of ‘research’… well, then I can understand how one might be unable to distinguish facts from lies.
Let's start from the beginning.
I don't do "research" at "climate change denial blogs". Here's a sampling of websites I've referenced for climate change/warming news.

What I think you should read

WorldNetDaily.com
That's quite the rouge's gallery of climate change "deniers", isn't it? Especially considering that the most damning of the articles cited from these sources
came from NPR!!!!
I don't consider the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the AP, AFP, nor any of the UK sources to be extremist, anti-climate change advocates or deniers, do you? There's
balance in my sources (something ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox might seriously consider).
And another thing, I consider your characterization of WorldNetDaily as a typical leftist "I can't refute your argument so I'll smear your source" attack. WorldNetDaily
IS right-leaning. They also feature a whole raft of liberal opinion writers (Sarah Posner, Ellen Ratner, Bill Press, Roger Ebert, David Linderoff, Juan Cole, Glenn Greenwald, Congressman Barney Frank, Rob McKay, and Robert Parry -- and this is just Liberals featured since September 1st!). Contrast that with the number of Conservative or Libertarian voices featured by The New York Times (if you said more than 2, you aren't paying attention).
As for the totally unfounded (and unproven) allegation that WorldNetDaily has ties to white supremacists, follow this chain of recent accusations, if you will.
Leftist "White Supremacist" Accusations:The editor of the Washington TimesBill and Hillary ClintonLou DobbsRon PaulMichelle Malkin, who is
Asian!!!
Novelist Stephen King"Doctor" James DobsonAs you can see, rather than debate in a reasoned, thoughtful manner, the Left resorts to ridiculous name calling. Does anyone, ANYONE,
REALLY believe that any of these people are White Supremacists? Anyone?
You wanna know why I treat climate change propagandists and "believers" the way I do?
Because it's a fraud, that's why!!!!Temperatures have been dropping for the last
decade. The ocean temperatures are stable. 28,000 scientists question the "consensus" of global warming (vs. 3,200 who signed off on the UN's fraudulent "study"). All physical evidence points to a cooling trend. And the biggest proponents of drastic change to "combat" warming have a financial stake in said "change"!
But there's no convincing the likes of Ardwulf. They're believers. You might as well try to convert an Islamist to Christianity. Ardwulf may not realize it, but he totally made Harry's point.

I've really got to hand it to Ben Cardin. He'll stand in and take his cuts at the plate, even after I posted a less than flattering analysis of his last response to me.
A little background first. Senator Cardin's first response letter to me was the product of my having voted in one of those dopey Congress.org polls about whether we should drill for oil in "pristine" ANWR or in coastal waters. His reply, in over-simplified summarization was, "no drilling, higher CAFE standards (for 2020!), and alternative fuels". I lampooned Team Donkey's version of "alternative fuels" as "hydrogen, wind, solar, fairy dust, unicorn farts, the aura of Brittney Spears, and healing thoughts." It wasn't a very nice post. Nor should it have been! Let's be adults here, people! Yes, we can look at alternative fuels - great idea! But let's also start building some energy independence (read: tap our OWN oil) rather than depend on our "friends" in the Middle East, Venezuela, and Russia.
Fast forward to now. Another Congress.org poll. Another "Yes, damn it! Drill already!" vote from yours truly. And, amazingly, another reply from Senator Cardin! (Note: the hyperlink takes you to an HTML copy of the letter, recreated as-is, without alteration).
It looks like the Senator is crawling out from under Majority Leader Harry Reed's skirt. Ms. Reed would NEVER tolerate this kind of language!
Our nation's dependence on foreign sources of crude oil is largely to blame for the recent spike in gasoline, diesel, and heating oil prices. Gas and diesel prices in the U.S. are closely linked to prices in the world crude oil market, which has been strained recently by unexpected supply disruptions, increasing worldwide demand, and other factors over which the U.S. government has little or no control. Because the U.S. imports over 65 percent of its crude oil from foreign countries, we are deeply vulnerable to global forces beyond our control.
Many of the foreign countries and regimes which supply us with our oil are openly hostile to our government and the American way of life. Consequently, American consumers have been unintentionally financing anti-American regimes and extremist groups when they pay for gas, compromising our national security one tank at a time.
Rock on, Senator! Spoken like you get it!
Unfortunately, the letter then returns to predictable Team Donkey talking points.
At the same time, American consumption of carbon-rich oil and other fossil fuels is permanently altering our environment. Recently, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report stating with 90 percent certainty that carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases (GHGs) released through burning oil , coal , and other human activity have caused substantial global warming since the 1950's. Many energy and environmental experts believe carbon dioxide concentrations in our atmosphere will double by the middle of the 21st century , due to human influence. This could cause a climate-wide temperature increase of 3.5 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit, and a wide range of other disconcerting consequences, including ocean acidification, melting Arctic ice caps, species extinctions, and rising global sea levels.
Where are my boots? It's getting deep in here! Can we stop already with the faux science Big Global Warming hysteria already? The UN is your source?!?!? C'mon! Those asshats will say anything to bring us one step closer to the Glorious One-World Socialist Utopia!
Then, in yet another plot twist, the Senator returns to reality.
Selling new leases for oil exploration and drilling in areas of the United States that are proven to be rich in oil, such as the Outer Continental Shelf and in the Gulf of New Mexico , may help displace some of the oil we currently import from abroad. This is why I support new lease sales and increased oil and natural gas drilling on the public lands and the parts of the open seas that the government has opened for drilling and where it is possible without great environmental loss . With the price of oil at an all-time high, the economic incentive for oil companies to explore for new oil and gas, drill in untapped reservoirs, and extract more from the wells already built, is higher than ever.
Yes! Drill! Drill!! Drill!!!
The letter ends, predictably, with a rundown of legislative steps Senator Cardin supports that he believes will lead to a solution. There's the predictable "you can't drill your way out of this" paraphrase that is, I suppose, required by DNC mandate.
But, overall, I'd say that Senator Cardin's second reply letter to me was W-A-A-A-A-Y better than his first. At least now he's acknowledging that we need to drill. Now we just have to make sure that he holds to that.
I know he's a junior Senator in his first term. I know that there's a certain amount of "tow the party line" that goes with being a first-term Senator. I get it. But the Senator needs to be his own man. And, most importantly, he needs to do what's best for America, not what's best for Al Gorebells, Richard Branson, T. Boone Pickens, General Electric, and Nancy Pelosi.
One last thought: where is Senator-for-life Barbara Mikulski? She can't be bothered to weigh in with her "solutions"? I guess that's what happens when you've been a Senator since Reconstruction. You can't be bothered with the little people.

I've noticed a trend. The more hysterical and unreasonable Big Enviro gets in hyping their warming hysteria, the more their mewlings are met with indifference by people with half a brain. Both in Britain and the US, people have collectively shrugged their shoulders in indifference.
But the hysteria? Oh my goodness, is it starting to get extreme! And funny.
This first asshat wants to put Big Oil executive in prison for high crimes against humanity! I kid you not.
James Hansen, one of the world's leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer
Think that's funny? Check this out.
On a planet 4C hotter, all we can prepare for is extinction
There's no 'adaptation' to such steep warming. We must stop pandering to special interests, and try a new, post-Kyoto strategy
We need to get prepared for four degrees of global warming, Bob Watson told the Guardian last week. At first sight this looks like wise counsel from the climate science adviser to Defra. But the idea that we could adapt to a 4C rise is absurd and dangerous. Global warming on this scale would be a catastrophe that would mean, in the immortal words that Chief Seattle probably never spoke, "the end of living and the beginning of survival" for humankind. Or perhaps the beginning of our extinction.
Meanwhile, the scientific evidence is accumulating to indicate that, in fact, we're getting
colder.
Independent researchers at the University of Mexico expressed their contention that
we're headed for a mini-Ice Age, and that current warming models are a fraud (excuse the poor Google translation).
An expert from the National Autonomous University of Mexico predicted that in about ten years the Earth will enter a "little ice age" which will last from 60 to 80 years and may be caused by the decrease in solar activity.
Velasco Herrera described as erroneous predictions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), pursuant to which the planet is experiencing a gradual increase in temperature, the so-called global warming.
The models and forecasts of the IPCC "is incorrect because only are based on mathematical models and presented results at scenarios that do not include, for example, solar activity," said the specialist also in image processing and signs and prevention of natural disasters.
I want one phrase to stand out in your minds, if nothing else does. The models are incorrect because they don't include
solar activity. Hmmm. I wonder what might affect Earth's temperature more? The pitiful activity of tiny humankind, or
the warming and cooling patterns of the sun?
Don't buy the hype. You'll just make Al Gorebells, Richard Branson, T. Boone Pickens, Nancy Pelosi, and the other availability entrepreneurs richer.

Nancy Pelosi has been the Speaker of the House for about 1 1/2 years. In that time, she has shown herself to be typical of the genus Liberalis Limousineis that is predominantly found on the Upper West Side and in trendy parts of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, and other large cities. The fact that she flies home EVERY WEEK on an Airforce One-style aircraft at taxpayer expense while preaching to the rest of us to conserve energy is just one example of her LL cred.
Fresh off her Messianic proclamation that she is "trying to save the planet", Ms. Pelosi continues to claim that attempts to vote for offshore drilling constitute "a scam against the American people".
But little Nancy has a secret. Little Nancy has a major conflict of interest. Little Nancy has a chance for a major financial score based on making alternative fuels more attractive.
As I pointed out just three days ago, the major players for "saving the planet" seem to be all about reaping a financial windfall from their eco-scare tactics. Here's "Planet Savior" Nancy's little piece of the pie.
Not surprisingly, the nation's largest provider of natural gas for transportation, Clean Energy Fuels Corporation, or CLNE, has a great deal to gain from the adoption of Pickens' fuel strategy and the passage of Proposition 10. In fact, according to the California Secretary of State website, CLNE has contributed $3,247,250 to supporting Proposition 10's passage.
CLNE, however, was formerly known as Pickens Fuel after its primary investor, T. Boone Pickens.
While Pickens touts a plan in the name of environmentalism that will also line his company's pockets, an investigation has revealed that another environmental champion and backer of Proposition 10 has also invested in CLNE: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
According to the investigation, Pelosi purchased $50,000-$100,000 in CLNE stock on May 25, 2007, apparently on its initial public offering.
Now the House speaker stands to make a large profit on her reported 22,000 shares of CLNE if she and other public figures can persuade the people of California to vote for Proposition 10 in the name of renewable energy and clean, alternative fuels.
Isn't that special? Little Nancy stands to make a profit on her shares of CLNE...but only if public sentiment towards the shift to alternative energy sources is heightened by high gasoline prices. And who is it that's keeping the price of gasoline high by refusing to allow a simple "yes/no"
vote on offshore drilling? Why, none other than little "I'm trying to save the planet/I stand to make buck" Nancy Pelosi.
Let's take roll, shall we?
Al Gorebells - Mr. Global Warming, chief propagandist for Big Climate (owns the company to which he pays his "carbon credits"): hypocrite/charlatan.
Richard Branson - announced a €1.9 billion "gift" to fight global warming (which turns out to be the creation of a new energy company that he owns and from which he will make billions): hypocrite/charlatan.
T. Boone Pickens - crusade to make natural gas part of the alternative fuels effort by pushing for Prop 10 (owns CLNE, so Prop 10 will make him billions): hypocrite/charlatan.
Nancy Pelosi - self-proclaimed planet savior, single-handedly holding up a vote that can make America a little more energy-independent and give consumers a little relief from high gasoline prices (stands to make huge profits on her CLNE stock from public opinion concerning high gasoline prices): hypocrite/charlatan.
By your fruits you shall know them. They're nothing but availability entrepreneurs, using their power and position to further enrich themselves regardless of how it may affect the "little people".
But here's the real pisser in all of this.
No one in big media is looking into this apparent and easily-verifiable story.
No one in either house of Congress is calling for an investigation.
No one is calling for the impeachment of the Speaker.
No one is doing anything.
It makes me sick.
*------------------------------------*
*------------------------------------*
I've said all along that Al Gorebells is nothing but an availability entrepreneur looking to cash in on the man-made warming hysteria that he has been a key part in fomenting. He makes a big deal about paying for "carbon credits" for his own profligate use of the planet's resources, but the "credits" he's "buying" are paid to a firm he owns!
Now there's news that another big name in the man-made warming hysteria crowd has joined Mr. Gorebells in the campaign to be the biggest availability entrepreneur.
The Virgin boss’s much trumpeted pledge of €1.9bn to tackle global warming is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
In September 2006, Virgin boss Richard Branson pledged €1.9 billion towards tackling global warming. For the next ten years, he announced, the profits from his aviation and rail businesses would go towards combating the biggest, most complex problem that mankind has ever faced.
The promise earned Branson headlines around the world. Media outlets carried photos of him, Bill Clinton and Al Gore at a Clinton Global Initiative press conference in New York. Adults, Branson solemnly told the assembled media, had a duty to pass a ‘‘pristine’’ planet on to the next generation. Politicians and campaigners were effusive in their praise for his imagination and generosity.
However, a look at the not-very-small print revealed that this amazing gesture would not be a matter of taking the profits from Branson’s polluting industries and using them to protect vast tracts of the Amazon.
In fact, the money would go to a new division of the Virgin conglomerate, called Virgin Fuel. Branson was simply gearing himself up to make more money. But as always, the PR spin was that he’d be doing the rest of us a favour in the process.
I'm telling you, people! There's only one way to know what's really up with these global warming cultists. You've got to follow the money. They say all of the right things about "saving the planet". But they're much more interested in using this faddish cause to line their own pockets.
By their fruits you shall know them. Gorebells: phony. Branson: phony.
'Nuff said.

It takes a man of character and courage to swim against the current of their times. When that current is fueled by a combination of political elites, mass media propaganda, and industry insiders hoping to make a killing from the resulting markets created by that current, the swim can be most daunting indeed.
Such a man is John Coleman, the founder of The Weather Channel. He has made it his life's goal to fight Global Warming hype. Talk about swimming against the current!
Here's a sampling of what Mr. Coleman had to say in a speech given recently before the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.
Hello Al Gore; Hello UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Your science is flawed; your hypothesis is wrong; your data is manipulated. And, may I add, your scare tactics are deplorable. The Earth does not have a fever. Carbon dioxide does not cause significant global warming.
Carbon dioxide is not an environmental problem; they just want you now to think it is.
Numerous independent research projects have been done about the greenhouse impact from increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide. These studies have proven to my total satisfaction that CO2 is not creating a major greenhouse effect and is not causing an increase in temperatures. By the way, before his death, Roger Revelle [the father of global warming research] coauthored a paper cautioning that CO2 and its greenhouse effect did not warrant extreme countermeasures.
So now it has come down to an intense campaign, orchestrated by environmentalists claiming that the burning of fossil fuels dooms the planet to run-away global warming. Ladies and Gentlemen, that is a myth.
I suspect you haven’t heard it because the mass media did not report it, but I am not alone on the no man-made warming side of this issue. On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released. Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.ds. Think about that. Thirty-one thousand. That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel.
You don't hear this kind of talk on any of the mainstream news channels (yes, Fox News, I'm including you here as well). Why not? Because their corporate masters stand to benefit financially from the hysteria surrounding global warming, particularly NBC, owned by General Electric.
Follow the money. Follow the money and you'll see that those behind the global warming scare, including Mr. Gorebells, have huge financial stakes in green technology or in the sale of carbon credits, a PT Barnum-worthy scam if ever there was one.
*------------------------------------*
*------------------------------------*
Hmmm. How is this possible? Are there evil humans living on Jupiter of whom we are unaware? Have Martians secretly started driving SUVs? I mean, how else would you explain the warming occurring there?
Does Al Gore know about this?
While the former vice president is leading the charge for drastically changing the way humans do business in a bid to avert catastrophic, man-made global warming, scientists reported today there is noticeable climate change taking place on Jupiter, too.
The news follows reports as far back as three years ago that ice caps on Mars are also retreating much as some of the ice in the Earth's Arctic circle.
There's one striking difference between Earth and the other two planets, however. Neither Jupiter or Mars has any people – and no artificial activity creating so-called "greenhouse gases" like carbon dioxide.
Hmmm. So...if there isn't any human activity generating carbon dioxide on Mars and Jupiter, what do you suppose might be causing their warming? Maybe, and I'm just guessing, because I'm not as smart as all of the "scientists" whose "consensus" is driving Big Global Warming Inc., but perhaps
the Sun might have something to do with it. After all, it IS the warmest thing in the entire solar system, and its temperature fluctuations just MIGHT affect the planets that depend upon it for light and heat.
Occam's Razor > Al Gorebell's "scientists".

If you listened to blathering-head talk radio over the past two weeks, you may have heard a lot of talk about the Bush administration being pushed to designate the polar bear as an endangered species. Never mind that, by some estimates, there are as many as 5 times as many polar bears now as in 1970. It's Global Warming! It's going to drown all of the polar bears. Al Goerbells says so!
Anyway, the radio blatherers mostly ranted on about how this would spell the death knell to any hope of ever drilling in ANWR and would certainly hasten the advent of carbon taxes and such nonsense.
Well, the worst fears of the talkers came to pass yesterday, as the sniveling, cowardly, treasonous Bush administration caved to the pressure from the State-Sanctioned Religion (Environmentalism) and designated the polar bear as an endangered species.
But Vulture! How can the bears go from "threatened" to "endangered" when their numbers are...increasing?!??!? My son, that's not how it works in the surreal world of politics. It's what COULD happen, not what IS HAPPENING, that matters.
The department, in deciding to list the bear as threatened, will cite studies by its own scientists that the decline of Arctic sea ice off Alaska and Canada could result in two-thirds of the polar bears disappearing by mid-century, said federal officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced. [Emphasis mine]
And, of course they fell back on the usual old chestnut to justify their actions.
"The science is absolutely clear that polar bear needs protection under the Endangered Species Act," said Andrew Wetzler, director of the endangered species program at the Natural Resources Defense Council.
"The science". Damn the f'ing science! The only "science" promoting the Global Warming scam is that which is funded by those with something to gain from the resulting policies that are justified by the need to "fight" warming. There are enough rational (and qualified) voices shouting from the rooftops that there is no man-made Global Warming to cast doubt on THAT assertion. Of course, they're not funded by
the right people.
And the radio talkers are absolutely right this time. Kiss ANWR drilling good-bye forever. Kiss pretty much ANY new oil exploration and drilling good-bye forever. Embrace the coming
One-world Socialist Utopia! Embrace carbon taxes! Embrace rule by bureaucracy!
Like you have a choice.
Thanks, Bush. Thanks a butt load. Traitor.

Al Sharpton is a disaster looking for a tragedy to exploit. He is a race-baiting charlatan who has apparently taken the mantle of ambulance-chaser-in-chief from Jesse Jackson. His latest "cause" was an attempt to shut down New York City as a protest against the "not guilty" verdict for the police officers involved in the tragic slaying of a man on the morning of the day he was to be married. Mr. Sharpton also tried to insinuate himself into the boiling cauldron created by the beatings of three individuals at the hands of the Philadelphia PD.
Sportswriter Jemele Hill of ESPN.com recently wrote a column on Karl Malone and his "parenting" of his three illegitimate children. In the process of excoriating Mr. Malone for his abandonment of his son, Buffalo Bills draft selection Demetrius Bell, she also threw down the gauntlet for Mr. Sharpton.
If Al Sharpton is itching to picket something, he should organize a protest outside Malone's house, since the National Fatherhood Initiative says two out of three African-American children grow up without their father in the home.
Take that, Sharpton! Called out publicly by a woman of color! What are you gonna do now, Mr. Pompadour?
Not surprisingly, there was NO media coverage of Ms. Hill's challenge to Mr. Sharpton. After all, there are more important things to cover...like Brittney being reunited with her children and Mariah Carey getting married to a child 11 years her junior and the premier of the
Sex and the City movie and.......
Just shoot me.

This week's WotW is the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright. And what a week he's had.
First there was all of the fallout from his "God Damn America" sermon. Then he made an appearance at the National Press Club in DC where he further ingratiated himself to one and all. Finally, Barack {don't say his middle name or you're a racist} Obama, under enormous pressure, threw "Reverend" Wright under the bus and severed all ties to him.
Why would the "Reverend" Wright do this? Doesn't he want {DSHMNOYAR} to win? The correct answer, sadly, is no, he does NOT want him to win. Vulture! How can you say that? Just look at the facts, ma'am.
Let's start with an analogy. The Department of Making Things Better is formed by an act of Congress. Their job is to "make things better". At first they have a lot of success; things start to "get better". But as things "get better", the Department's budget is reduced, their prominence is diminished, and their media coverage dwindles. So...no surprise here...the next fiscal year, things DON'T "get better" -- they "get worse". Congress calls hearings. The Department says things got worse because of the budget cuts. Congress reinstates their previous budget number. But now, the Department heads are smarter than before -- they're still going to try to "make things better", just not very hard. And when things DO start to "get better" too fast, they'll publish some study or other to assure that things don't look as good as they really are. After all, rule #1 for any bureaucracy is self-preservation.
Rule #1 also applies to availability entrepreneurs. There is a cottage industry in this country I like to call the Department of Racial Grievances. It is informally headed by the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson (the king of the shakedown artists) and the "Reverend" Al "I'll shut down New York!" Sharpton. Folks like the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright don't figure as prominently as the other "Reverends", but they, too, depend on the continuing perception of racial disharmony in order to make their daily bread. If {DSHMNOYAR} were to be elected president, these "Reverends" would suffer the experience of the Department of Making Things Better -- loss of prestige, loss of funding, loss of shakedown opportunities.
Why Vulture! That's so cynical! Yeah? So show me the logical error. Show me where I'm wrong. That's what I thought.
For proving once again that he'd rather see his people fail than see his "mission" and prestige threatened, "Reverend" Wright - you're the Wiener of the Week.

Don't be too terribly surprised if asshats like Al Gorebells try to blame global warming for this, too.
Residents across the Midwest were awakened Friday by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake that rattled skyscrapers in Chicago's Loop and homes in Cincinnati but appeared to cause no major injuries or damage.
I'm just sayin'...

In case you still harbor doubts about the president and his commitment to what's best for America, here's further proof that he's completely sold us out.
President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for what that should include.
Specifics of the policy are still being fiercely debated, but Bush administration officials have told Republicans in Congress that they feel pressure to act now because they fear a coming regulatory nightmare. It would be the first time Mr. Bush has called for statutory authority on the subject.
"This is an attempt to move the administration and the party closer to the center on global warming. With these steps, it is hoped that the debate over this is over, and it is time to do something," said an administration source close to the White House who is familiar with the planning and who said to expect an announcement this week.
It is hoped that the debate is over. By whom?
The more it becomes apparent to anyone paying attention that global warming is a sham, the more the elite pushes for global warming legislation. They're obviously afraid that they'll miss their window of opportunity. And with
news like this, I can see why they fear.
All of this cold weather is freezing the start of the gardening season. Now, outdoor fans are eager for a warm-up.
"I'm 71-years-old and I've never seen spring come this late," Robert Ciesleck said.
All I know is that it was 36 degrees when I left the house this morning. In mid-April. I'm just sayin'.
As the president gets closer to his last day in office, he looks for new and ingenious ways to screw the American people. First he came down on the side of Federal handgun restrictions. And now he's going to push for global warming legislation (read: tax increases in the name of finding a "solution").
All of you suckers who say you're going to bite the bullet and vote McCain this fall because "he's the lesser of two evils", remember this: McCommie is WAAAAAAAAY more liberal than Chimpy. If this is the kind of stuff Chimpy wants to stick us with, can you imagine what a McCommie presidency would bring?

Apparently the sheeple aren't clamoring for government intervention fast enough for the powers that be. Now they have to invent new and creative ways of scaring them.
The risks of climate change have turned from a threat to reality impacting the conflict in Darfur, migration from flood-prone Bangladesh and hopes for stability in the Middle East, according to a new EU report.
From Africa to Asia, and from pole to pole, climate change has become "a threat multiplier which exacerbates existing trends, tensions and instability," warns the seven-page report on "Climate change and international security", to be presented to a European summit in Brussels on March 13-14.
Among the listed threats are "reduction of arable land, widespread shortage of water, diminishing food and fish stocks, increased flooding and prolonged droughts."
These problems, according to the report drawn up by the offices of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, "are already happening in many parts of the world".
Uh-huh. "[A]lready happening"? S-u--u-u-u-u-re they are....
Okay, let's take a break from the fairy tale and
look at the reality. This article comes from (believe it or not) NPR.
Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message. These diving instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years. That could mean global warming has taken a breather. Or it could mean scientists aren't quite understanding what their robots are telling them.
Or, it could mean that...wait for it...there AIN'T NO STINKIN' GLOBAL WARMING!!!
There's more.
80 percent to 90 percent of global warming involves heating up ocean waters....Since the system was fully deployed in 2003, it has recorded no warming of the global oceans.
No kidding? Hmmm.......
"There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant," Willis says.
Cooling. I see.
Face it, these assclowns haven't the foggiest idea what is really happening with the climate. But they damn sure want to saddle us with new, creative taxes to "eliminate" the "warming". Will the sheeple buy it? Don't put it past them...

I was quite heartened to hear about the International Conference on Climate Change which took place in New York this week. A number of prominent scientists and individuals with specialized knowledge on the subject matter convened to discuss the issue. But this was not the "consensus" of which Plantary Savior Al Goebbels speaks. Rather these prominent individuals are about exposing man-made global warming as the Big Lie that it is.
The event was put together by the Heartland Institute, a pro-private sector solutions group. Yeah, I can hear it now -- these guys are pro-BUSINESS, so of COURSE they're going to try to refute global warming. Yeah, well just because someone's in business doesn't mean that they're against Al Goebbels' crusade.
Take NBC's "Green Week". What a huge promotion! Wow! And they're...a business...a business owned by General Electric. So? says you. So General Electric stands to make a ton of money selling it's "green" products if Goebbels has his way. No conflict of interest seen in THEIR stance, since they're PRO-green. It's only a conflict of interest if a business or business group is standing up to the myth of man-made global warming. See how the fuzzy liberal mind works?
I don't watch the nightly news, so I have no idea how the networks presented news on this conference, if they presented anything at all. My suspicion is that they probably ignored it. They tend to ignore things that don't conform to "the script". If you are one of the decreasing number of people who actually watch that crap, let me know what they have said (if anything).
Following the global warming theme, this is another story that reflects something I've been predicting since January 6th. Read for yourself.
The recent cold wave sweeping across Mumbai and other parts of India could be attributed to global warming, experts said on Tuesday here at an environmental conference.
Just as I predicted. If it's hot -- global warming. If it's cold -- global warming. If there are floods -- global warming. If there is drought -- global warming. It's science, so it must be true.
The sad part is the number of asshats falling for this tripe. Sad indeed.
Update:
Mark emailed the following. Note that he had heard nothing of the conference.
More ammo to fight the left! Love it. Never heard anything about this conference until I read your blog. I bow down to thee oh prescient one.
Flattery not required.
Yeah, not surprised he hadn't heard about it. It's not part of "the script", so it gets ignored by Big Media and only gets picked up by WND and other more independent sources.

Former presidential candidate John "Lurch" Kerry stepped forward as the first asshat in line to prove the contention of New York Times science writer John Tierney (as highlighted by the Vulture in my post on January 6th) that Global Warming True Believers would use any and all inclement weather occurring for the foreseeable future as "proof" that Global Warming is "real". Here is a sampling of what Mr. Tierney had to say:
Today’s interpreters of the weather are what social scientists call availability entrepreneurs: the activists, journalists and publicity-savvy scientists who selectively monitor the globe looking for newsworthy evidence of a new form of sinfulness, burning fossil fuels.
...
“In the last few months,” Mr. Gore said, “it has been harder and harder to misinterpret the signs that our world is spinning out of kilter.” But he was being too modest. Thanks to availability entrepreneurs like him, misinterpreting the weather is getting easier and easier.
Here's what Mr. Botox
had to say, speaking on MSNBC on February 6th:
[I] don’t want to sort of leap into the larger meaning of, you know, inappropriately, but on the other hand, the weather service has told us we are going to have more and more intense storms,” Kerry said. “And insurance companies are beginning to look at this issue and understand this is related to the intensity of storms that is related to the warming of the earth. And so it goes to global warming and larger issues that we’re not paying attention to. The fact is the hurricanes are more intensive, the storms are more intensive and the rainfall is more intense at certain places at certain times and the weather patterns have changed.
Ah, yes! It's inarticulate, it's circular reasoning, and it's the expression of belief in the One True Faith - Global Warming. Who better to prove Mr. Tierney (and the Vulture) correct than Senator Frankenstein? The next original thought John Kommie has will be his first.
